Devlog 3 - March 2020

I've been posting a lot lately, so this will be short. Since the demo has been released I've been working on a lot of stuff with the game. Most of it I want to keep a secret, so I'll instead talk about some cool new features!

9 Till Void will not be a "pure" roguelike, in that you will unlock things that will help the start of your runs as you play the game. If you played the demo, you'll know that spell preparing is a big feature. A super cool new feature is that you'll be able to prepare any spell that you've ever purchased at the start of a new run. Below is a screenshot of the spell collection (only showing spells from the Sandlands).

You'll also be able to choose the area that you start your run in, which will also give you a little extra mana and some more spell slots to work with. You'll only be able to start in an area if you've already discovered it normally and completed the previous area at least 3 times. This will hopefully give players a lot more room to experiment with spells that might not normally get a chance to shine.

One last thing to note, I'm going to be looking for some playtesters soonish to help with balance testing and bug hunting. That should start within the next 2 weeks. If that sounds like something you'd want to do, join my Discord server and check the announcements channel. Link to my Discord server is in the 9 Till Void game description.

Coming Soon! #Nojong

I'm developing a new commercial game with a small team! A demo will be coming to steam soon, but you can wishlist it in the meantime if you're into deckbuilding / autobattlers / roguelikes!

Wonder if anyone can guess what kinda game I'm working on right now with this GameJolt session data as the only clue. I bet someone can sleuth it out!

For some reason, it's really hard to change the alpha value of a tile layer in GameMaker. You can do this easily for sprite or instance layers, but not tile layers. So here's a video on how to easily update the alpha value of tile layers in real time.

The Demo is available now for free!!!

The demo features:

1 Game mode (at least 2 in full game)

8 Levels (20 in full game)

10 Enemies (24 in full game)

36 Spells to find (72 in full game)

Enjoy!
