So…
What’s new?
Turrets
First up, three new enemies.
Turrets act as clones of the normal tanks, but being unable to move. This is balanced out with higher health and a faster rate of fire.
Normal Turret
Rapid Turret
Rocket Turret
Barriers
Next, it’s a new block, the barrier. This block is completely indestructible, a little unrealistic, yes, but is this game?
Dirt block
Currently with the same amount of hp as concrete (which I will change), it mainly acts a scenery to add visual depth to the levels.
Weapon Switching
Finally, I’ve changed how changing weapons works. Instead of being automatic when you run out of ammo, you will need to manually change it (this may be changed), adding large amounts of control to combat.
The weapon you are using is shown beneath the hp circle.
Bug fixes
Lasers no longer go through walls
Game no longer crashes when the player dies
Other stuff
Aight, two updates ago, I promised I’d focus on improving visuals. So far in the last two updates I’ve made 1 minor change, not even changing the art style. Why? Because the current art style has begun to grow on me, it works mechanically, it’s easy to work with, and with a few particle effects, it could look quite nice.
Am I still in mid-development hell?
Yes and no.
To put it simply, I’ve got a lot of work to do before I can start making levels, yet, I’m only planning to add 1 more enemy, and 1 or 2 new blocks. But, on the other hand, speed of development hasn’t slowed down as much as I expected.
So basically, we’ll see what happens.
Thanks for reading, and following the development of the game.
