Hey, guys. It’s me, MHT! Boy, do I have news for you! We’ve been working behind the scenes to make the burden of developing easier on us so that we could deliver the best playing experience for you followers. Hope you enjoy what we’ve got to tell!
As spring comes and the weather changes, we have been making some changes, as well. As of today, Ethan Harper (AKA Game8Me3 or Game8Me2) will be the head director of Demolitale, and I will step down and become a Co-Director. Literally the second he stepped up to lead, he revolutionized our world of development and your world of Demolitale.
As recommended by a few others in the past (hi Deemo), we will be developing only ONE game. However, do not be alarmed! All games’ stories will be merging and changing into one singular, easy-to-digest story instead of a complicated, convoluted, and even sequel-driven mess! In fact, we’re not even an AU at this point. We are now converting to the role of “Undertale fan Spin-Off”, and will be adopting the new title “Undertale: The Otherground” (implying that Frisk does indeed exist now). The story will remain very similar and true to the classic tale, while at the same time containing both minor and major changes to make it feel more alive. This will all be super convenient for development because it’s 1 game, all 1 story, and much much more in terms of convenience for us AND the player. Hope you all enjoy! Don’t worry about assets being lost, though. We’re reusing all we feel would qualify.
Join Louis, Renee, and Sunny TOGETHER as they traverse the now revamped Otherground (yes, another Underground!) from Demolitale: The Otherground, now containing assets from the original Demolitale and Demolitale: Seas of Sorrows! Isn’t it strange that Renee and Sunny are also here? That’s because they’ve never even seen the sun in this iteration of the story! The Otherground is so big, that fallen humans in the past managed to survive and repopulate in a secret civilization. The twins have been born and raised under the haven and will be joining Louis (AKA the “Boy from Above”) on his travels to survive and discover the fate of someone he held dear.
Worried about Jack? That’s okay. Jack will unfortunately not receive his own game title due to many, many complications with development. Instead, he will have a major comic in the comic series planned to stick around for some untied ends in the Otherground’s story.
It’s not a devlog without new content, right? Well, we don’t really have much to show that’s significant… But there’s running now! So far I’ve only animated the front-facing cycle, but obviously, there will be more to come, and yes, there will still be diagonal angles. :)

The last thing I wanna mention is something very important. Lately, we’ve been up to a new art overhaul. Notice how bland the original palette on the twins was? Well, that’s been changed. Check this out!

Pops out a lot more, huh? Well, this effect will be applied to all of The Otherground! And to top it all off, we are also working on a new master palette for us to use, courtesy of Otherground spriter Starlane!
It’s only WIP right now, but that’s fine. There’ll surely be more colors later, especially concerning skin tones since we currently don’t have any bright yellow or peach colors. Thank you, Star, for your hard work!

We were also supposed to have a new song to show, but we’re having technical difficulties in terms of getting it posted, for some reason, so I’ll release that later individually. Hope you’re excited for it; after all, it’s an Ethan Harper song!
If you’re interested, come to the Discord server linked at the bottom of this paragraph and check out what there is to talk about! Now that Demolitale’s mess of a story has been scrapped and merged into one story, that means we can talk about the original story as much as we’d like, so long as we don’t have plans to reuse said aspects. It’s really neat, and with the new cleanup we have been doing, things should be looking a lot nicer. We hope to see you there!

Lastly, I’d like to thank you for over 1,000 followers! I can’t believe we made it this far, but here’s the catch: it’s all thanks to YOU. It sounds cheesy, but without YOU, nobody would have cared to keep this project running, and we certainly wouldn’t have cared to rebirth it for the sake of it actually being completed one day. Thank you so much, everyone.
It was an honor being the head director for nearly 2 years, but I believe I wasn’t doing a good job at all. I have the potential, but it’s clear that my true place is not meant to be leadership (ironically). However, do not be sad or scared! I’m still here, and I will even be writing most of the devlogs still. And remember, I will also be Co-Directing, spriting, animating, and story writing. Now, though, instead of “ask MHT”, it’ll be “ask Ethan”, which makes me feel so much better. I really hated having to manage a team, so I’m glad I chose the right person to stand in my place.
I also wanted to say Happy New Years, Happy Valentines Day, etc. I’m so sorry I haven’t been able to release any content for those holidays, but school decided to dump a load of stuff on me and a few others, and things got tough. However, I worked hard and now I have enough time to do what I want, and that means me helping Ethan and others develop The Otherground. Isn’t that neat?
Thank you for following the development of De- I mean, Undertale: The Otherground! It’s crazy how quickly things have changed since the role swap was made. See you all next devlog!
