As the header above states, we can now confirm the cause of the connection issues that have been reported over the past few days.
Unfortunately, we have received confirmation that GMServer, the service that DF CONNECTED uses to power its online multiplayer mode, is currently experiencing a targeted DDoS attack, orchestrated by an outside attacker.
For those of you who don't know, a DDoS attack, or a "Distributed Denial of Service" attack, is a type of cyber-attack which aims to severely disrupt an online service by flooding the bandwidth/resources of a targeted system. This can cause widespread connection issues, like what GMServer is currently experiencing, or it can even take down a system entirely.
GMServer and its hosting provider are aware of the attack, and are looking into possible solutions. We will share more news when we can.
It's really disheartening that there are people out there who feel justified in doing this to an Undertale fangame. We're not a company or a large team, we're just a group of passionate Undertale fans. I'll never understand why people do these things.
