While people who play video games may suffer from sleep deprivation, the blame can’t be placed on video games alone. However, video games are one of the many reasons why America is becoming a sleepless society. Although it’s difficult to tell exactly how video games affect our sleep, common sense tells us that any over-stimulating activity before bedtime is likely to disturb our night’s rest.
We also know that exposure to bright screens at night has physiological effects; preventing our bodies from producing melatonin which helps us get to sleep. Playing on into the night will take a toll on your health, energy and mental abilities.
If your quality of sleep has faded with gaming, you might want to read a book or try a white noise sound machine to help you sleep. It was found to work almost as well as medication. Sweet dreams, everyone!
