Howdy, folks!
It's been a while since the last update to the game, huh?
v2.5.0 has been progressing well. I won't get into the details of it here, but if you're interested in the latest news on v2.5 then head over to the DF Discord! The link is on my profile if you're interested!
Anyway, I kept a backup of v2.4.2 in the event I needed to update the game for whatever reason, and I used that backup to create this new patch. Originally I was just going to add some internal changes to make moderation for us easier and that's it, but I thought I might as well throw in some new additions too, since it's been a while after all.
However, there's a LOT of stuff still being kept specifically for v2.5.0, so if you were expecting a big update to drop so soon, sorry but this ain't it! v2.5.0 is expected to be the final Multiplayer update, so it's gonna take a while, especially when I'm starting university not long from now.
Story Mode has also been progressing slowly but surely, behind the scenes. I'll have some more news on that at a later date...
For now, here's the changelog for v2.4.3:
- Added additional moderation measures to the game.
- Added redesigned menu buttons for the battle system GUI! These were made for v2.5.0, but since I'm doing a new patch I thought I might as well add these in now.
- Added username lookup functionality to the Undernet search page. When you're searching for someone, usernames that match what you're typing will now show up in a list you can browse through, so you can look up names even if you don't know exactly what they are.
- Added a new music track, "Rude Buster X" by Lone-R, to replace the original "Rude Buster".
- Added a new music track, "Chilly" by Perpetrator, to replace "Snowy".
- Added a new music track, "Autumn Breeze" by Perpetrator, to replace "Quiet Autumn".
- Added a new music track, "Beneath the Scarlet Leaves" by Perpetrator, to replace "Scarlet Forest".
- Added a new music track, "In the Castle Walls" by Ethosein, to replace "Card Castle".
- The YOU WON message at the end of a battle will now tell you how much EXP you need until the next LV, or how many spares you currently have.
- Added a new "Turbo" setting for the Enemy Encounters toggle that increases the rate of battle encounters drastically. However, it can only be used if you're at or above LV 10, or at LV 1 and have over 100 spares!
- Added account guidelines to the login screen. The guidelines are: No offensive slurs in your name, no impersonation attempts, and no names that only use random numbers. These three guidelines are what we expect all accounts to follow. If your account breaks any of these guidelines, you may want to consider creating a new account.
- Added a prompt when you select "Reset" in the Multiplayer login screen to confirm that you really want to reset your profile save data before it does it.
- When you find/purchase a pog, it will now display the sprite of the pog you found instead of just telling you its name.
- Changed the color of the DF Mobile UI from purple to white to make it easier to see on dimmer screens.
- Gave certain Chara and Asriel AU skins temporary redesigns until they get their finalized designs in v2.5.0, so they're no longer directly from a pre-existing AU.
- Changed the layout of the Main Menu so that all of the options are right there from the start for quicker access, and added a new "Where's Story Mode?" option. (The menu will be redesigned for v2.5.0!)
- Fixed a bug where the game would tell you that there's a new update when there actually wasn't.
- Fixed a bug where sometimes a player's name would not display in local chat.
- Selecting "Respawn" on the Game Over screen will now always send you back to the start room.
- Updated to the latest GameMaker Server version for Multiplayer improvements.
- Other minor improvements.
And there you have it!
I understand it's been a while since the last update, but the team and I will be taking our time with v2.5.0 to make sure we get it right. I hope this little patch will suffice until then.
