Hello everyone! Its been quite a while since yall dont get a proper update on the game's progress. A lot of things happened since last devlog (exacly 1 year ago), and in the meantime a lot of things happened, including a lot of progress on the game, some artistic changes for final encounter, a lot of small hiatus and even good news involving the demo. With that in mind, let's take a look at what the game has changed in 1 year.
(put an art of my choice)
Whats new on the team?
Over the past months, the omega team (God i need to think of a better name) got some new members, those people being:
-Frieddust
-Americanmario
-Emeraldexpress
-Samnosa
-Kubek (contributed)
-Splonkdonk (contributed)
With this, some things are finally that were missing are finally being made, such as the overworld.

Game progress
Well... This has been one hell of a year for omega, followed by multiple small hiatuses, sudden motivation spikes and a ton of new things i want to cover, so lets start over with:
Chapter 1 - Flowey Encounter progress
After 1 year since the last preview, a lot of things have been made on flowey encounter, specially when it comes to coding. So, to keep you updated on flowey encounter's current state, i decided to upload a video on YT on the dusttale omega channel, showing some attacks and another part of the music, that is still being worked on.
Regarding its progress:
-Intro was slightly updated, now with Flowey proper face expressions
-Attacks are 100% coded and almost ready to go (if we disconsider testing)
-Final bugs are being fixed and ending is being properly made (thanks killa)
-Dialogues are fully done (great mark for the omegaers)
- Game over is fully coded and implemented in game
The fight also got a brand new art thats going to be used somewhere in the game, take a closer look!

Chapter 2 act 0 - Guilt Trip (Sans Encounter)

By far this was the one where we got the best progress so far, specially if considered its state 1 year ago. The biggest updates are:
-Updated encounter song (Guilt Trip Δ by Cass)
-All attacks are fully coded (if we disconsider healing attacks)
-Intro and ending are finished
-Spritesheet was complete
-Gameover fully coded and implemented in game
-Overworld coding was started (only started tho)
There are a lot of things i want to show, but i think its better to gatekeep it for now. Instead, take this small showcase of the game over

Aside from that, I wanted to show the yearly update on the battle overworld custscene, even if some stuff are already scrapped.

(overworld tileset by kubek, sans and frisk sprites by me)
Both frisk sprites and overworld are currently getting retouched, so expect a little difference for the final product.

Other chapters news
Yes, finally something that isnt for the demo. Looking at the other encounters, we didnt have anything coded at all, but at least we got some writing and spriting progress.

(papyrus sprite by splonkdonk, currently scrapped)
Final encounter also had a new direction, with the help of the best(worst)co-owner shiro and my new animating skills, something really good will be coming for chapter 5 (Judgement Hall). I dont wanna spoil much but uh, i guess since its omega's 2nd anniversary i should at least show a small wip
And Lastly, here's a small preview of the menu

???????
As a bonus, i'd like to show a project related to omega that is being concepted on the meantime, "Dusttale Abyss" (aka hardmode)
Its development wont start untill omega completion, but there are some things i want to share with you, such as:

final encounter concept

Conclusion
This year had a lot of progress considering the time nothing was being made and my multiple breaks, and im really proud of how the game is going. About the demo, both encounters are playable and playthrough have achieved 7 minutes of gameplay, and the only biggest issues are the overworld and some bug fixes. Does this mean the demo will release this year? The awnser is:
No fucking way
But we are still gonna work a lot on it to make sure that when it comes out, you can enjoy playing it as much as i am enjoying working on it. Thanks for the reading, and see you on the flipside
