First off, I am beyond angry. The developers behind Unreal Engine (Epic Games, all rights reserved) made a decision, reportedly around four months ago, that literally feels like a direct attack on indie creators like myself. According to their updated rules, they reserve the right to take down your game if it violates their content policies.
Let me be clear: This is not just a policy update. This is a slap in the face to every solo developer, storyteller, and passionate creator who poured their heart into their vision.
I want the freedom to write my characters how I choose. I want to create voice acting that speaks how they would speak, raw, flawed, emotional, human.Thats what art is. Its not always clean. It’s not always comfortable. But its real. Unreal Engine once felt like a wonderland, a place where ideas could come to life. But now, its clear : we’re building in someone else's sandbox, where the owners can rewrite the rules at any time based on what they think is "acceptable."
If you are offended by a story, by a word, or a situation that reflects the harshness of life—then exit the game. Not every experience is meant for every person. If it’s not your apple pie, try peach. But don’t silence the baker that made it.
Epic Games made what might be the biggest and dumbest decision yet: Censoring creators based on vague offense metrics. It leaves us paranoid, afraid to upload, afraid to express, afraid that years of work could be erased by someone else’s subjective discomfort.
We don’t make games to be safe.
We make them to say something.
Let us speak.
NOTE: Sorry for any Typos, i wrote this VERY Quickly! Also no hate was mean't in this post. Please treat everyone with respect, including Epic Games. My future games will be made in my Stand-Alone Game Engines. Thank You for reading!
Note2: Also, this wont be posted in ANY COMMUNITY OR CHANNEL in case it gets taken down. Thank you for Understanding!
