Probably not my favorite videogame sidekick but the only one I can remember off the top of my head: medli from windwaker,

Mostly just because she accompanies you through the sPoOkY dungeon and I like the spooky thingies

I think mappy should be remade, not because I think it needs to be, I just think its one of the only retro games I like that isn't on anthing besides arcade systems... (and the only place I've seen it is a random arcade and a plug n' play)

In the quest for accessibility, I'm adding Resurrection Shrines for players on the 'novice' end of the platforming spectrum.

In order to unlock the power of a Shrine, you must collect 3 'Souls' from your dead corpses! (the floating blue orbs)
