Howdy, folks!
This month’s progress update is going to be a little bit briefer than the last one, as Chapter 1’s development has gotten to the point where showing off much more than I already have would be getting into spoiler territory! At around 80% completion, Chapter 1 is coming along great, and some very exciting things are in the works, so let’s get straight into the news!

Story Mode:
Progress has been going great for Story Mode! I’ve spent the past month polishing the overworld with updated sprites and layouts, adding new locations to explore, cleaning up the intro cutscene and adding sidequests. There’s a lot of content in the game now, and things are looking very, very interesting, to say the least!
I’ve gathered a few recent screenshots to show you guys the finalized aesthetic of the game, so please take a look!

As you can see, the game has come a long way since the Story Mode Demo! It’s interesting to me personally to see how much the game has evolved over the course of it’s development. One example to show how it’s changed over time is the trailer for the game that released last year, which had a drastically different plot and overall look compared to what the game is like now.
You know, that trailer is pretty outdated, and it’s already turning a year old this month, so maybe it’s about time for a new trailer? In fact, yeah, that’s a wonderful idea!
You can expect to see some new gameplay footage for Chapter 1 along with some juicy story tidbits when a NEW TRAILER for Don’t Forget drops on February 21st!
It’ll be exactly one year after the last one, funnily enough. It also happens to be on my birthday too! I’ll post a devlog leading up to its release so you guys can be ready for when it’s out! I hope you look forward to it!
Now, let’s move on to some Multiplayer stuff!
Multiplayer:
Don’t worry, multiplayer fans, good progress has been made on the online mode too! In fact, I’d like to introduce to you a major new feature for the game that fans of PvP are sure to be interested in!
Introducing Partner Vessels!

Partner Vessels are characters you can find and collect which give you certain power-ups and abilities in PvP battles. For example, you can find a Froggit partner who, when equipped, will occasionally spawn extra flies for your opponent to dodge while they’re being attacked in a battle, making it harder for them to avoid everything.
There are many different partner vessels to collect, each with their own perks. Some of them might be able to heal you, or slow down your opponent’s SOUL for a few turns, or protect you from a fatal blow, or spawn some extra bullets to dodge, and so on. You can think of them as a mix between the “Spirits” from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and the “Spells” from the old multiplayer demo.
You can have two partner vessels equipped at a time, providing many different possible combinations. With the huge number of skins and partner vessels, you’ll never know what to expect from your opponents, which makes PvP even more exciting!
To accomodate this new system, the way that ranks work has now changed. When you lose a PvP battle, you will lose points from your rank like normal, but your rank will no longer go back down if you reach 0. For example, if you reach Rank B, you will never have to go back down to Rank C. Your points will stay at 0 and won’t go back into the previous rank even if you keep losing. This is to help encourage experimentation so that you aren’t punished too greatly for trying new things.
I look forward to seeing your responses to the new Multiplayer when it releases alongside Chapter 1! I’ll talk a bit more about Partner Vessels when the release of the game is a little closer.
Conclusion:
Well, that about does it for now folks! To briefly recap, here’s what we covered in this month’s progress report:
Chapter 1 is very close to completion, mainly working on adding the final few things and polishing the game up.
A new trailer for the game will release on February 21st.
Partner Vessels has been revealed for Multiplayer.
Thanks for your continued support on the game everybody, and I’ll speak to you again later this month when the new trailer drops!
