Hello Everyone!
Today is our first update for the month of June. We are currently recording new gameplay for the Final Days Alive trailer to better match the changes that have been made and also reinstalling premiere pro because that decided not to work.
Today’s update is all about the inventory system.
How It Works
Backpacks -
At the start of every player’s first game, the player will pick a backpack with 6 slots to carry items such as weapons. Players can find other backpacks with different sizes or can build a workshop where they can build their own backpack. The biggest backpack in the game right now has 16 slots.
Materials -
Materials are supplies such as wood, metal, stone, concrete, and more. We do plan to eventually separate them into their own parts, but we don’t know if that will be at launch. Every time a player cuts down a tree, mines a rock, or searches through rubble for concrete material is added to their backpack. Players can use these materials to build walls, floors, ceilings, or any type of building. Players will also need to use materials to build their bunker.
Consumables -
Consumables can be food or drinks at the moment. We do plan on making food and drinks take up their own slot in the backpack, but for right now they are represented by a number. If your character is hungry, a pop-up icon will appear and you must click on it to eat food. An animation will play and then you’re back in the fight!
We’re hard at work tuning this inventory system and we would love to hear feedback on how you feel about this.
Do you like the current system?
