Finally... Results from empathy study!!!

Hey folks!

As many of you are aware, I made ‘Looking Back’ as part of my master’s dissertation with the goal of studying how video games affect empathy in players. After several months of compiling and analyzing data, writing, and waiting for the whole project to be graded, I can happily say that I am finished and can now share the results of my study!

If you’re interested, here’s a link to my dissertation (although please note that there are some sections like the full survey responses that are not included in the appendix due to privacy issues). You can read more about the incentive and inspirations behind the project, the development process of the game, and, of course, my findings on player empathy.

Thanks so much to everyone who played the game and/or took the survey; it means a lot to see people responding to the story and characters, and I’m very grateful for all the feedback I’ve received over these last few months. Here’s hoping that OMG will put out more games in the future!

Cheers,
Saran
