First Devlog for Vetus Domus - 18/4/2026


Hey you guys, it's me, Paperclips.

I know I told you guys that you could expect an update on the game right after the launch for The Terrors at Tubby-Land, but the truth is that, at the time, we had no idea what to do with the game. Let me explain.


Five Nights at Wario's 2: Revisited was going strong for most of it's development. By August of 2025, we had the game around 65% done. The main gameplay was 100% finished and all we had to do was the post game content (which there was a lot of) However, we then realized that the game got REALLY ambitious. So ambitious that we were skeptical that we could get the game out by the end of 2025. So this is when we began work on The Terrors at Tubby-Land, to hopefully hold over you guys, the fans. While working on terrors, as you guys were informed of in December. The files for almost all REALLproductions games up to that point had been wiped from our google drive, leaving all those assets inaccessible; Including the assets and mfa for Wario's 2. So as a team collective, seeing as how broken and buggy Wario's 2 was already, and with how we lost all assets, we decided to start again, over from scratch.


The lore of Wario's 1 was kinda messy, especially after the 2.0 update (which shares lore with the old Wario's 2) So expect a Wario's 1 remake after Wario's 2's release to help flesh out the lore and make it more readable. Which leads me into my next segment:


Revamped universe.

You know of movies like Halloween 2018, where it's a remake of the series, yet the old media in the series is still canon? This is what we like to call a Requel. It's what the name implies, a remake and a sequel. The remake takes place in the original lore as a sequel. Wario's 2, ever since it's inception, was always going to be a Requel, seeing as how the botched the Wario's 1 lore was (and still is). But the Requel aspects are being fully fleshed out now in the new version of Wario's 2. The game is no longer a remake of Five Nights at Wario's 2, instead being a remake of Five Nights at Wario's 4. You play as Richard who has to survive the monsters who come out at dark in your own home. Wario's 2 originally had this with the nightmare sections (post night segments) but we decided to make it the vocal point of the new version of Wario's 2, seeing with how much unique and fleshed out those parts of the game were compared to the main gameplay. Of course, not everything will be replaced. Luigi's ghost and Luigi as a whole will still matter to the lore. Emma is till fairly important and keeps her importance from the original FNaW series, acting as the big bad. But things aren't 1 to 1 like before.


Modeling/Graphics.

Wario's 2, unlike Wario's 1, will feature unique models by our amazing new graphics team. The new graphics supervisor that has been hired will make sure to look over the new modelers to make sure all the models will be the best they can be! Wario's 2 will also generally be the best looking REALLproductions game to date, as we've hired (& paid) more experienced modelers who know how to add all the little details together to make the full model look so much better! Environments will also look a lot better with new compositions, render styles, lighting and shaders to compliment! This game will be our biggest game yet! If you thought Terrors was large with 6 nights, 3 custom night exclusives and a boss, you will be surprised. Wario's 2 is planning on having 3 sections of gameplay, with 6 custom night exclusives, a hard mode variant for those wanting more of a challenge, with the main game already being fairly challenging and point n' click, 360 view sections. This game is our most ambitious yet and this is the reason why we've been working on the pre-production planning for so long. We want to ensure this is our best quality of work. Keeping the quantity equal to the quality.


Programming

Wario's 1 was a mess programming wise. It was the first game I had coded myself, fully by myself. Of course I've learned many new techniques that have stuck with me throughout the years to help make Wario's 2 so much better. The game, despite it's size, will be optimized to the best of my ability. We also have @Mouse-avi helping with coding. Specifically for the more difficult parts, like with the point n' click freeroam. Coding will probably go by a little slow, just because of the shear size of the game. But the game will be out when it's done, with hopefully little to no bugs.


That's all we have for you guys now, this game is going to be massive and we hope you all appreciate what we're doing with this. This is a massive leap, for not just us, but also the FNaW community. Chat, we're focusing on balancing changing for the main nights seeing as how Night 4 is a HUGE jump from Night 3. Mario and Wario combos make it impossible to beat Night 4, so we're changing up some of their timers to compensate!
