My last devlog for Five Nights at Steve's 2 was to let you guys know that I was working on the Custom Night, which meant that it wouldn't have been much longer before I could hopefully release the full game. However, I ran into several bugs that would make the playing experience impossible and unenjoyable, so I had to attempt to fix them. In this case, I would have to fix it for all the nights in order to keep everything somewhat the same.
Why I haven't posted a lot about the game since then
Making small posts documenting the things going on didn't seem all that needed to me, especially since I was just doing bug fixes. Plus, it was more difficult than I anticipated. I had to come up with a new system for the mob A.I. in order to make sure mobs didn't overlap in the cameras where they shouldn't, as this was a bigger problem in later nights.
The code I've come up with to do that definitely helped, but I may update it a little bit after the game is released just to polish it up. Other problems happened when they came into the office, which has been mostly cleaned up as well. Other than that, in real life things and motivation issues kept me from making too much progress, which is also why I didn't post much news about it.
State of the game
I think things are going better now. Once I finish copying the code for the mob A.I. into the main nights, I'll see what I can do with the custom night. If all goes well, I'll add a few more needed things into the game and finish up the trailer. All the cinematic shots are complete, so now I'll just need gameplay clips to finish it.
How much longer?
I can't give a set release date because anything can come up that will mess up production and set me back a little bit. I don't know if I can get it out before April, but I'll try my best to get as far as I can. My biggest apologies to anyone who has been waiting. It's kind of crazy to think that I started this game a year ago, and still haven't finished it. But, no matter how long it takes, I'm completing it before it gets away from me again.
That's all for now! Hope you're all doing good and are still excited to play it. There's more to the gameplay than meets the eye ;)
