FNAS 4 Reignited Concepts and designs

If you missed my FNAS 1, 2, and 3 designs, be sure to check here.

So, here's how this works. I'll be showing the original and side-by-side comparing it to my redesign of it, as well as some commentary on the design. Pretty simple premise.

Will any of this stuff be made into a game? Maybe. Who knows? Only time will tell!

Well, here's the plan. I'm going to split this into 3 parts, with part 1 being the base FNAS 4, part 2 being the FNAS 4 scrapped DLC, and with part 3 being the FNAS 4: Halloween Edition! Of course, I think the designs in Halloween Edition are pretty much perfect. I just want to make my own version of the designs and mechanics with my own little spin on them! With that in mind, let's begin!

------------------------

Part 1: Base FNAS 4

As always, let's look back at the original FNAS 4 office.

office_middle_0.png

I always liked how it was a more run-down version of the FNAS 1 office, but I still feel like it could use a little redecorating. So I did a few adjustments to the FNAS 1 office I originally made. So, here's that!

fnas_4_reignited_office_concept.png

The window from the original FNAS 1 Reignited office is gone, replaced with a hole in the wall to make it so the nightmares can get in more easily. The walls are also cracked and molding. The door switch and light buttons have broken completely, and even the monitor has cracked. The only good thing to come out of this is that since the FNAS 1 Sonic poster is starting to peel off, you can see a little bit more of Origin Sonic! Not enough to show off his full design yet though... sorry to keep baiting you all on that reveal, but I PROMISE that full body reveal will come soon enough! Now then, let's talk characters! FNAS 4 has a pretty big cast, so let's just get right to our main event, Nightmare Sonic!

fnas_4_nightmare_sonic_reignited.png

Now I'm sure you're all wondering "where's his vest Luunii?" Well, I'm glad you asked! Obviously in the original lore, a new body was made for them after Nightmare Golden Sonic killed Salvage Sonic, so I wanted to follow the idea of new body, new outfit! I decided to follow more of a Sonic Boom outfit for Nightmare Sonic, giving him the iconic bandana and giving him bandages for one of his legs! Huh, wonder if that's a reference to another FNAS 4 title. Otherwise, not much has changed here. Now let's move onto a HUGE change: Nightmare Mario!

fnas_4_nightmare_mario_reignited.png

Nightmare Mario has had a significant change from his original counterpart, even getting a bit of an upgrade and mechanic change! As I'm sure you've noticed, he looks a little bit... transparent. Well, that's because the idea is that Nightmare Mario would have a very famous powerup from Super Mario 64: The Vanish Cap! While his mechanic would fundamentally stay the same, the further away he is, the harder it would be to see him as the cap would still be in effect, but the closer he gets, the more the cap would wear off and you'd be able to see more of him. Something to make him a little more challenging.

fnas_4_nightmare_yoshi_reignited.png

As you can see, I made some huge changes to Nightmare Yoshi as well. I wanted to make them a little more unhinged in nature, and I think I did a pretty good job at capturing that! I got rid of the knife from the original design because I honestly felt like it just didn't fit what I wanted to go for. I wanted a version of Nightmare Yoshi that would act like a crazed monster. Crawling on all fours and even slightly clinging onto walls with their sharp claws.

fnas_4_nightmare_tails_reignited.png

I followed the same design philosophy as I did for Nightmare Sonic with Nightmare Tails, giving them their Sonic Boom outfit. However, instead of just giving them the same arm cannon as before, I wanted to do something a little different, so I gave him the arm cannon from Sonic Battle! And well hey, at least he has both of his tails now! (gee thanks Withered Yoshi). The camera also works now, with its only function being to visit Tails' Cove and to flash the light on it. I thought that might make a little more sense, but that's always subject to change.

fnas_4_the_toymare_reignited.png

I thought the original Toymare was a little too much Toy Sonic and not enough of the other Toys (might have just been my opinion, but still), so I decided to give him three pieces from every Toy animatronic! The head, top of the legs, and one shoulder joint from Toy Sonic; the hat, overalls, and arm of Toy Mario; another shoulder joint, the shoe, and the arm of Toy Yoshi; and an ear and corner of the mouth, a leg casing, and the tails of Toy Tails. I thought doing this would help to balance out the Toy count while still keeping the iconic idea of the Toymare. I also gave them three arms. They would have four, but obviously one of them is missing. I hope this isn't too fundamental of a change for you all. Now it's about time we cover our favorite golden boy, wouldn't you say?

fnas_4_nightmare_golden_sonic_reignited.png

I decided to keep this design fairly faithful, outside of making the shadowy parts a little more purple. The melting aesthetic didn't really carry over as much here, since they're mostly just Shadow Sonic now. But they aren't Shadow Sonic yet. We'll get to him in the future! Now we should probably move onto the other big Sonic here. Nightmaric!

fnas_4_nightmaric_reignited.png

I wanted to give Nightmaric more of a coal black type of color scheme/aesthetic, so I gave them a leather jacket, some Xenophanes-styled markings on their head quills, and some marks on their arms. I wanted to make their tendrils a little more organized, so I made them larger, kinda similar to what I do with S0NIC in my Sonic.EXE Rewritten stuff. Other than that, he's still good ol' Nightmaric. He'd actually get a special Nightmare Night treatment just like Nightmare from the original FNAF 4 game. We have one more physical entity to cover... or I guess I should say TWO. They aren't really apart after all.

fnas_4_plushnic_and_plushtails_reignited.png

Plushnic and Plushtails are fairly straightforward in their redesigns. It's just the details from the FNAS 1 Reignited Sonic and Tails (minus the goggles that Tails had) translated onto FNAF plushie-style bodies, kinda similar for what I did for Tails Doll back during my FNAS 2 redesigns.

Now of course, we still have two phantoms left to cover, because this game actually had some phantoms in it! And as you all probably remember from my FNAS 3 redesigns, the phantoms around here don't follow the generic gray phantom philosophy and instead mimic original concept art/older media of those characters, so what did I do for Phantom Salvage Sonic? Simple...

fnas_4_phantom_salvage_sonic_reignited.png

I based him off of some early concept art of Sonic! I couldn't exactly base him off of Max/Feels since they're kinda already a character in FNAS Reignited. Speaking of them, I wonder where that loveable scamp has gone... oh well. Up next is Phantom Amy!

fnas_4_phantom_amy_reignited.png

Yeah, this one was probably pretty obvious with the route I was going to take. There isn't a lot of early concept art of Amy that didn't translate into her Sonic CD design, so that was pretty much kept the same. Still, poor Amy.

Well, that should be everyone in FNAS 4! I really do hope you all-

Oh wait...

Yeah, I guess if Luigi finally escaped from Max/Feels' mind that they would wake up too.

Oh, come on. Did you REALLY think I'd skip out on the opportunity to do something more original here? Behold, the boss of Night 6, Nightmare Feels!

fnas_4_nightmare_feels_reignited.png

No comparison image here, because Feels was never in the original FNAS (but you already knew that). Feels is DEFINITELY not happy about Luigi escaping. So, of course when Luigi decides to go back for his hat, Feels HAS to take that opportunity to try to get his victim back. Now I'm sure you're wondering what the yellow coloring and the black marks on him are, right? Well obviously, it's Feels transitioning INTO Ristar! You know I had to make a call back to that little fun factoid.

In this new Night 6 boss fight, Luigi can't hide from Feels under the desk. Feels is smarter than that hedgehog and his friends, so he won't be THAT easily fooled! So how do you stop him? Simple. You're Luigi. You've gotta fight with FIRE if you want to stop Feels. Listen closely for whatever hall Feels enters, and once he gets close enough, quickly throw some fire at him so he'll back off! Be careful though, Feels is fast and can be a little unpredictable at times.

------------------------

Part 2: FNAS 4 DLC

Alright, onto the new content since I hadn't posted this yet on the previous Official FNAS Community. FNAS 4 DLC doesn't really have as many new characters, so there won't be too many changes. First thing's first, the office here would not change, so there won't be a visual of the office unless I decide to make a unique office later. That said, let's jump straight to Nightmare Toy Sonic!

fnas_4_dlc_nightmare_toy_sonic_reignited.png

I didn't want to change Nightmare Toy Sonic TOO much because I thought his original design was... actually kinda fascinating really. Obviously, I made a few changes like endoskeleton colors and making their shell a little more cracked, but outside of that there isn't too much. I also put him in the Sonic Adventure pose as a neat little reference.

fnas_4_dlc_nightmare_toy_mario_reignited.png

Nightmare Toy Mario's changes are similar to Nightmare Toy Sonic's changes. Removing the rabbit ears, making them more cracked, making their colors more accurate to the real Mario, etc. And of course, he's got that classic Mario pose! Now if you want to get into the REAL changes? May I introduce you to Nightmare Toy Yoshi!

fnas_4_dlc_nightmare_toy_yoshi_reignited.png

Their wires have gained a mind of their own, becoming spider-like limbs that allow them to scale the walls of the building. Their neck endo is also looser, allowing them to move their neck similar to how a snake would move. And hey, they still have their jaw! Lucky them.

fnas_4_dlc_nightmare_taingle_reignited.png

Nightmare Taingle is in a similar boat to Nightmare Toy Yoshi, with their more wire-like endoskeleton allows them to contort their bodies in strange ways, letting them fit into tight spaces and crawl up the walls of the building. Other than their endo body, they're pretty similar to the original Nightmare Taingle.

fnas_4_dlc_nightmare_salvage_sonic_reignited.png

Nightmare Salvage Sonic is pretty similar to the original, with a few interesting differences. For example, they have a bone tail to fit the little spine near Sonic's legs. They also have a sharp bone hand, similar to Scraptrap. Not too much of a fundamental difference, but I still enjoy how interesting they look. Now we move onto our last character from the DLC: Nightmare Luiginette.

fnas_4_dlc_nightmare_luiginette_reignited.png

I decided to lean a LOT more into the strange melting-like state of their feet, making their body look a lot meltier and lankier Also the strange texture in the L on their hat, their eyes, and their mouths? They're actually all textures from an actual glitch screen in Super Mario Bros 3. I really wanted to do the whole glitch and melting thing to play into the idea that they almost aren't meant to be there.

Welp, that's the FNAS 4 DLC! With that out of the way, we can move onto the final part! The FNAS 4 Halloween Edition!

------------------------

Part 3: FNAS 4 Halloween Edition

Here we are, the final part of the FNAS 4 redesigns! Halloween Edition. This one had some very interesting ideas, so let's see what directions I took these designs in.

Alright, that in mind, up first is Zombie Salvage Sonic

fnas_4_halloween_zombie_salvage_sonic.png

I wanted to keep them fairly similar design-wise since their design was the most interesting to me. I removed their mouth to imply that their face has melted to a point that it melted over his mouth. His mechanic is actually slightly different, where while he does limp through the office, he'll actually have a slight chance to trip in front of the player and sit there on his knees for a second or two, catching his breath before getting back up and leaving. Mostly as a brief scare to the player since they'll be pretty much at face level. I'll elaborate more on this later.

fnas_4_halloween_vampire_mario.png

I decided to build more on the whole vampire thing by giving him a more vampire-like look. I actually based his suit off of Marchionne from the Mario the Music Box series. I thought that design would actually fit with this pretty well, and it did. Let's move onto Killer Yoshi next.

fnas_4_halloween_killer_yoshi.png

I kept them pretty similar, but I wanted to make them look a little more tired and blood-soaked because I felt it would sell the killer vibe more.

fnas_4_halloween_beta_tails.png

Nightmare Beta Tails was an interesting one to work on. I knew I wanted to give them a different outfit from the original Nightmare Tails, so I gave them the Nine outfit from Sonic Prime. You might also notice their face looks slightly more unhinged, which would be because I based it off of the Tails from "Where Was My Hero." That sort of unhinged look just fit pretty well with them. I did leave the hook though because it looked kinda cool. Now we move onto the Pawn Toads.

fnas_4_halloween_pawn_toads.png

I based their designs off of the actual different poison mushrooms from throughout Mario history. I figured basing them off of actual evil mushrooms from the Mario series would be a neat little idea. It is slightly jarring how different the toad on the far right is from the others, but it still kinda fits in an odd way. For Shadow Devil, I took a very interesting direction.

fnas_4_halloween_shadow_devil.png

Man, today is just not Luigi's day, is it? It looks like Luigi has to deal with a shadowy manifestation of his captors from back in Shadow Night in FNAS 2 Reignited. Shadow Devil shapeshifts between shadowy versions of Feels, Mario, Yoshi, and Tails, all just to torture Luigi even further. But that's not the only trauma that Luigi is going to have to deal with.

fnas_4_halloween_zombie_amy.png

Poor Amy. Or at least... what's left of her. Yup, Nightmare Amy has been replaced with a Zombie version of Amy from after her untimely death in FNAS 2 Reignited, even still wearing a small bit of the Sonic mask. Due to this, she would be a lot slower, but not as slow as Zombie Salvage Sonic. Zombie Amy would still have a little bit of her conscious left, where she would occasionally croak out a few words, begging for help. Depending on how loud the line is, it would be a secondary indicator as to how close she is to you. And now, let's move onto the final character! Nightmare Mimi...

fnas_4_halloween_nightmare_mimic.png

...wait what?

That's right! Nightmare Mimic is no longer actually itself, as it has been replaced with a version of Chaos from Sonic Adventure! This version of Chaos has been alive for long enough that it has learned how to shift parts of its body, attempting to make itself look more like an inhabitant of Sonic's World. Of course, it has trouble fitting in since it can't fully make itself look like a regular person from Sonic's world, so it wears a dark cloak to hide most of its body. Cloaked Chaos accidentally wandered into the ruins of SHPP and found Luigi. It's uncertain if this version of Chaos is a friend or a foe... but they sure look scary to Luigi, so he'll probably still have to defend himself just in case.

Now. Do you remember how I mentioned that Zombie Salvage Sonic has a chance to fall in front of you and he won't notice you're actually there? Well... in Night 4, there would actually be a scripted segment at 5 AM where he would fall, only to look under the desk and see you, which would then lead to Luigi having to do a point and click minigame where he wanders around the building, trying to find an escape in the building. I thought this would help to make the story a little more interesting and to give a small little bonus challenge.

------------------------

And with that, FNAS 4 Reignited (every version) is completely done! It took a while to get that stuff done, but I'm happy that I finally reached the end of it. I took a lot of creative liberties with certain things, but it was worth it!

I might attempt to do FNAS 5 Reignited designs and concepts at some point either next year or during the Christmas season, but that depends on if I can find the motivation to get the stuff done.
I hope you all have a good day and know that there are people out there who care about you! Stay safe!
-Luunii
