Warning: Checking the Trello will spoil you characters, stages and more. If you wish to experience the game in the best way possible, stay the fuck away from this blog post and the Trello board.
Hey guys!
Here’s a little, off-side article on the progress of Scufflers. Don’t expect a demo or anything from it, though.
Since the code was aging badly, getting painful to maintain (mostly because everything was hacked together), I decided to remake the game entirely.
Well, not really. I’ll keep code bits here and there, but all scenes are started back from scratch.
Suggestions
The Scufflers Trello board is now public. You can see what’s happening, request stuff like characters, stages, game modes, pretty much anything.
If you really want to help, you can comment on the Suggestion Box card. I may or may not add your suggestion to the game, but I’ll at least consider it and probably give it a try!
Again, and I can’t say it enough, do not look at the Trello board if you wish to experience the game fresh. You will be spoiled.
NinjaRope
A little twitchy, but it’s pretty good!
Along with that, the code for the NinjaRope
script is now publicly available on Github under the LGPL 3.0 license. Basically, it means you can check it out, modify it, use it in a commercial or non-commercial project, but any modification of the code must be made public.
Obviously, pull requests are strongly encouraged as the entire Unity3D community could benefit from it.
A new version is coming closer to a release by the day, using Physics2D.Raycast
instead of a BoxCollider2D
. It will make the whole system smoother and hack-free (hopefully), as well as more accurate.
What now?
I have a few personal issues at the moment, making it pretty hard to work full-on Scufflers. I have so much to do, but I can’t work my ass off.
Which basically means Scufflers is on hold until further notice.
I will try to work on it as much as I can though, because it’s a project I really want to bring to a release.
