On December 7, 2019, Ole Miss hired Lane Kiffin to be the next head coach for the program, starting his tenure at the beginning of the 2020 season. On December 9th, he was formally named the head coach.
2020: Led Ole Miss to a 5-5 record. Won the Outback Bowl 26-20 vs Indiana
2021: Led Ole Miss to a 10-3 record and a #11 ranking to finish the season. Lost the Sugar Bowl 21-7 vs Baylor
2022: Led Ole Miss to an 8-5 record. Lost the Texas Bowl 42-25 vs Texas Tech.
2023: Led Ole Miss to an 11-2 record and a #9 ranking to finish the season. Won the Peach Bowl 38-25 vs Penn State.
2024: Led Ole Miss to a 10-3 record and a #11 ranking to finish the season. Won the Gator Bowl 52-20 vs Duke.
2025: Led Ole Miss to an 11-1 record and a #6 ranking in the AP Poll (CFP ranking pending at this time), and definite invitation to the College Football Playoff, seeding also pending. He accepted a $90 million contract to become LSU’s next head coach after his final game against Mississippi State in the Egg Bowl, which Ole Miss won 38-19. He will not be allowed to coach his team in the College Football Playoffs, so the Egg Bowl was his last game as Ole Miss’ head coach. He had an overall record of 55-19 at Ole Miss, with 5 bowl game appearances, 3 bowl game wins, and a College Football Playoff appearance, which he will not be coaching in.
