Hey everyone! Been a while since the last update, so here is a combination of the major developments from our Discord (discord.gg/forsakenstudios) over the past month!
This includes our estimates for a release date to the next update, alongside some information regarding new mechanics and features in Forsaken AR.
As always, things are subject to change, so don't take this as completely set in stone! The current server overhaul we're doing is very complicated work, and it takes time!
We'll be beginning private testing of the server from late February into early March, to finalize it and make sure it works before shipping it publicly.
Then, we'll be doing the public release of the new servers in late March to early April, which will also be when the game downloads go back up on Game Jolt!
All accounts that log in from the release period to the middle of May will be automatically merged into our new server system.
After this period, account transfers into the new server system will have to be manually requested, and we will likely stop support for account transfers between servers in June.
Progress on the server itself has been very steady, and we are currently on programming the Inventory systems. The remaining additions for us to add are getting shorter by the day, and we hope that it will be stable enough to begin bug testing soon.
Many fans of the game may have heard about Five Nights at Freddy's MR, a prequel game to Forsaken AR that was for both mobile and PC devices.
This game is now cancelled, however, the work gone into it will not be going to waste.
Firstly, the reasons for FNAF MR being cancelled are as follows:
The game was started in June 2022, and to be honest, the game codebase is atrocious. It's a nightmare to work with and the only sustainable solution would be to completely start over.
The games tracking is terrible on Android, which has resulted in a lack of motivation to even continue this project if it's not playable on android devices.
The game was written in 2022, and frankly it's just not good. We are just not really proud of the story/gameplay that it would've had anymore.
HOWEVER. This is not all bad news. Efforts from MR's development have instead been put into a new project.
Forsaken AR will be rebuilt from the ground-up in Unity.
This is a complete merge between Forsaken AR and FNAF MR.
This would mean, once complete, the addition of new fully original mechanics and features, as well as major bug fixes and overhauls.
Of course, this is a LARGE undertaking, and very special care must be taken to ensure a smooth transition to this new project from Forsaken AR, including making the code as accurate to the original FNAF AR as possible. This is making steady and swift progress, but still will not be done for several months. This is seperate from the server merge, and will come much later.
Thank you all for your continued patience on Forsaken AR, alongside all of the support you've given us during the downtime!
We will be releasing a new event shortly after the server update is released, and we hope that you will all enjoy what the team has been cooking up.
