Did you know FSDJ occurred 17 years ago last week? It did.
...Anyway, let's get to the dev update...
REWRITE
We're still going through the rewrite process. Here's what we've got for now.
Day 1
Day 1 will stay *mostly* unchanged. It's mostly just subtle dialog changes to make the wording of stuff better. The biggest changes are in the intro and tour. We're adding some more dialog in the very first scene to make Kiwi's homelessness a bit more clear. Afterward, there is some dialog of Kiwi ringing up Freddy's after watching the ad on TV, with Jimmy ecstatically asking him to come in tomorrow morning.

(There will be art of Kiwi with the phone here later.)
I've changed a lot of Jimmy's dialog during his introduction and tour to show more of his desperateness to keep Freddy's open, making him show a bit more of his sly side, which wasn't very present earlier on.
I've also added tour sequences to the front & back of the building. Game design-wise, these should have been there in the first place. The tour is meant to show you all of the rooms and what you can do in them, but for whatever reason I didn't think about adding those. Anyway, those are in now. Jimmy will also give you a bit more insight about Sunburn Man when he's showing you the back of the building.

The last thing to go through in day 1 is the day ending scene. I'm going to completely re-do that scene. I planned on having the game calculate your day score (work performance), but the way It's set up now is super convoluted and broken. I've been planning on saving this for last.
The weird dark scene after Kiwi goes to sleep will also be completely redone. The plan is to make it a bit more interactable.
Day 2
*Most* scenes with Willy will be redone. There will be instances where Kiwi will notice Willy is watching him in both non-evil and evil routes. However if you choose not to help Willy, he will occasionally interrupt your work and make your performance poorer. This only applies to day 2, so he won't be bothering you EVERY day. (Although I almost did do that, because it'd be kinda funny, but not fun from a game design perspective...)
We're also going to be re-doing the fetch quest Willy gives you after starting the evil route. Not quite sure how yet, but we're going to start by collecting feedback from our testers.
I've extended the scene that plays after the day ends. Instead of teleporting to the inside of Jimmy's office, You'll see Kiwi walk up to his office, but right before he opens the door, Kiwi can overhear Jimmy speak with somebody on the phone. You can choose to listen in, or knock on the door.

(We might add a new visual for this. This hallway background isn't very appealing to look at during this context. Also yes, the posters are gone. Temporarily. Explanation for that will be in the next dev archives!)
There are also some new scenes at the end of day 2, depending on what you do. I'll keep these a surprise for now.
As you can see, we're not quite done with the rewrite yet. But it's almost finished. We're going to start testing starting this Sunday, and make finalized changes throughout the week.
I've also got a little head start working on draft scenes for days 3 & 4. I'll be doing a mix of both this and also the rewrite for next week. They're looking pretty good so far! We'll start getting feedback for some of those, too.
WILLY REDESIGN
We're still not finished yet. We're still toying around with some new ideas.
Sometime around this weekend, we'll post a poll with all of the new designs we've made. Let us know which one you prefer.
Once again, we're not going to let you leave empty-handed. So here's the one design we're currently going with.

Just a reminder... we're STILL not done. This probably won't be the design we'll use.
End of Update
That's it for this week. I wanted to show off most of the newer stuff in this post, but I actually haven't had too much time lately to work on the new exciting stuff. But I do still plan on getting it mostly done by the end of the week.
I also don't know if this bi-weekly devlog is working out. We may switch back to monthly devlogs if it's still too stressful after a couple more posts. Let us know how you feel about this, too.
Thanks for reading, see you next week!
