Hey, hey! It's finally time for another update on what's up with the development of Freddy's Spontaneous Day Job! Quit a bit has happened, and we're excited to share with that we have worked on since the last update.
PREVIEW DEMO UPDATE
You may have noticed, but the preview demo has been taken down. Why?
We've changed the intro to the game quite a bit (And other parts of the game, which you will see in a little bit). I thought it would be a good idea to take it down and upload the new and improved version. Also, the file size for that demo was ridiculous. I hadn't optimized the file size and it should NOT have been that large. So when the updated version releases it will be MUCH smaller.
So... when will we release the new & improved preview demo?
It will be released on the 17th. The plan was to release it when this update comes out, but I won't be able to release it until the 17th. Look forward to it!
CHANGES
We've made a lot of changes to the game since the last update. Here's what we've changed:
First change: We've changed the default font. I think this one looks a lot nicer, and fits the game more. The outline color also changes depending on who's talking. Here's another example with Willy:
Colors are subject to change. We're still playing around with this.
We're also planning on using different fonts for each character; but we haven't gone through that yet. We might not change their fonts, either. This is very experimental.
I want to hear what you think about this. Should we keep it? Should we change it? Should we go back to the old way? Let us know.
There's now a little "intro" that plays for when each day starts.
WHAT'S NEW
We've changed a bit, but we've also been adding some stuff too. Here's what's new:
I've been working on the "minigame" that you play when you put on a Springlock suit. Spring lock suit parts are randomly placed on the screen, you will have to click on them in the correct order to put it on. The spring lock training video will tell you the correct order to put it on.
However, this might be scrapped. Right now it doesn't seem to want to work all the time. The actual game itself works fine, but once you complete the minigame you will be sent to a pitch-black void with endless royalty free music.
I will keep finding ways to fix it. (And I'm sure there is a way.) But if it keeps on doing this I might just erase this whole event and try something else. I have plenty of other ideas for Springlock minigames.
We've finally begun working on battles.
We've mostly been working on assets, but we should have some more to show in the next update.
Everything seen here is VERY WIP. The BG is just a placeholder for now, Kiwi won't be floating and your enemies won't be red rectangles with flipped numbers on them.
That is all I have to show for battles for now, and I will probably tease some stuff in-between updates.
NIGHT SEQUENCE
It's been a while since I've updated you all on how that's going. So here's what's going on with it.
Basically, I have to redraw the whole map. But that won't take too much time. Ever since we changed the layout of the building, the layout of the map in the night sequence has been the same as it was before we changed it. But now I'm finally getting to work on that.
I haven't shown very much of the night sequence. I think it's time I finally show you some things inside it. Here.
^ Here's a current screenshot of how it looks currently in the new map. It's rather empty, but we will get decorating once the map has been completely drawn.
^ Here is what the OLD map looks like. This one is also unfinished, and won't ever be finished. You can see all of the random objects I placed around the map. They're all placeholders for now.
And here is what the new map looks like.
That's all I have to show for the Night Sequence for now. I will show more in the next update when there's more to show.
REVAMPING THE GAME PAGE
Over time I will be revamping the game page. The description for the game page looks a little messy right now. So I will be polishing it up and updating it to be more accurate to the game today.
END OF UPDATE
That's all we have to update y'all on for now. Remember; there will be an updated preview demo released on the 17th. We've changed some bits in the intro, so it might be worth checking out.
Thank you for reading, we are excited to share what we have planned next!
