According to when the game takes place, it has been three years ever since the what people like to call the incident, "The mimic outbreak". And so authorities are still looking for the machine so that they can trap it and maybe destory it from causing any more harm. And "Edwin Murray", the creator, is now held in jail for making such a ruthless creation.
