Sark was the last “country” in Europe to be under a feudal political system, which means it had a lord like in the Middle Ages. This changed around the year 2000, and now it has political parties and elections, but the lord is still there, albeit with less power.
And also, since French has long been spoken in this “country,” certain names, such as street names, have remained in French. Furthermore, in the English-speaking community of Sark, the word ‘lord’ is not used, but rather the French word for “seigneur.”
Cars are not allowed, but you are legally permitted to use tractors and horses.
It should be noted that it is not really a country, as Sark still belongs to the British constitutional monarchy.
But as I understand it, it remains independent from the UK but not from the monarchy.
