Game objectives thoughts - woopsie

The minimum it needs to be called a game is almost there, with the exception of an actual objective. Today I caught myself saying “ok, what’s the objective again?”… And I realized I didn’t think about it. That’s some professional game designing right there!

Anyway, I did have a vague idea about making it the standard level based system, and in each level you had to go from point A to point B. But now that I can play with it I realize how volatile the whole game is with the map turning upside down all the time, it might not be a good idea to follow that formula so commom in platform games.

Thus I’m thinking in making each level a set of objectives the player can choose from or choose the order of completion. Example: Save all hostages and kill all bad guys. In this example the player has to be careful not to blow up the map before the hostages are rescued but can release hell after that. And it has a open world flavor to it, allowing the player to chose where to go from first. Then there could be a leaderboard for time records :)

Any comments or suggestions…?

It nicely separates the snowy biome from the grassy one.

It's built with painted Ebonstone.
