Gameplay update, and a question!

It’s been a few weeks, hasn’t it?

Well Now I’m Back!

I’ve been quietly been working on Basement for the past few weeks, and I’ve gotten to a point when it’s about time for me to ask you an important question. But before we get into that, explanations! because everyone loves those, right?

I think it’s about time that I start talking about the game’s structure. so if you don’t really care about that, or don’t want to hear spoilers, then just go to the end of this devlog to hear a question I want to ask you.

The story in this game is really simple. It’s not really intended to fit into the greater FNaF timeline, just something really simple to keep you engaged. You play as a new janitor for Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria. You have been hearing rumors about the basement, the staff talks about how the place is filled with monsters, and someone actually died. One day, your boss has you clean up the basement. Once you are done, the life around you starts to unravel as you uncover a deeper mystery.

Time To Talk About The Gameplay!

The game may be called “Basement: A FNaF Roguelike”, but this game will not stay in a basement for the entire game! The full game will have 5 levels, including the basement. Each of these levels will have different enemies and different ways to deal with them. I can’t share all of the levels, but I can share the second level: The House!

After cleaning the basement, your character goes home to get some rest, what follows is a dream the player has about what he dealt with in the basement. Gameplay wise, well, all I can share is that There will be a mechanic, where every 30 seconds (this time is subject to change), a grandfather clock will chime. this clock will be influential in how you deal with the enemies in this level.

But enough about that.

It’s Time To Ask A Question!

There are currently 2 ways I can release this game. I have an idea which one I should go with, but I want your opinion about it.

1) I could release the game in chapters, releasing a level every time I finish one. This would allow me to get criticisms on levels when they release and would allow me to fix the levels for the release of the next level.

2) I could also release the entire game in one go, finish all of the levels and extras before release

One seems to be the right choice, but as I said, I want everyone’s opinion on this.

That’s All I Have For Now, Make Sure To Leave Your Choice In The Poll, And Have A Nice Day!
