The game will take much from the platformer part of itself, from movement of entities to level design, and added minor levels of parkour will give wanted control of the movement.
And now the part that gives the wanted nonlinearity: skill progression.
There are three main branches, these are engineering, alchemy, magic. Each one offers unique way to progress puzzles: interaction, one-off puzzle change, or manipulating it respectively.
Basic stats will also be upgraded: almost or all variables of the player will be avaible to level up: from jump height to hp regeneration, so if you're just a little short of hooking up to the edge of the wall, or if you are mad lad who wants to complete the game without any skills - so be it!

Back in my art school days I used to ride the 710 COPSA line from Parque Del Plata to Montevideo almost everyday. This is the Marcopolo Viaggio G4 Mercedes Benz model from the late 80s, one of the older bus models that was running on the line.
