Our GDC Roadtrip!

One thing we’ve definitely learned from all the conferences in the past year is the value of slumming it! When you have 5 events to attend, you can’t go spending a ton of money on just one, and we definitely overspent on our first GDC in 2017. So this year we wanted to really knock it out of the park!

We found out that our Composer/Sound Designer Ben has an RV that his family wasn’t using, and we wanted to see if we could figure out a way to use it to avoid paying for accommodations in one of the most expensive cities in the U.S.

We managed to not pay for housing by parking in a Lowe’s about 20 minutes from the convention center (we called the manager in advance to make sure we wouldn’t get towed!)

All we needed to figure out was how we were going to shower! Which we did through a combination of favors and splurging for an RV park for a couple of the days. It was still a looot cheaper than it would have been! And the bed was actually really comfy. It did get pretty cold at night though!

While we were at GDC, we had a great time showing at The Other Party, which was hosted by Gamejolt & Devolver Digital! We also were hunting down press and industry folks to make sure as many people knew about the campaign as possible for when it went live! So hopefully you will get to see the results of our little roadtrip pay off thorughout the week!
