I was born in 2009 (later Gen Z) and I have a little sister, who I'll call Ariana for privacy reasons, who was born in 2014 (January, too, so she's one of the earliest Gan Alphas) and her behavior worries me so much, and yet it's behavior that's considered "normal" for kids her age, now?
Today, she was putting away dishes and she was scrolling through YouTube shorts at the same time. Like, what??? Doomscrolling is what you do when you DON'T HAVE anything else to do, or when you're stationary, not when you're UP AND MOVING AROUND AND PUTTING SHIT AWAY??? You're already being stimulated by your task, you don't need to be staring at your screen AT THE SAME TIME???
Like, I don't wanna sound like those bumass grown-ups who are always yappin about sum "these kids and their phones" but how the fuck is this normal? I do my fair share of doomscrolling, too, but not WHILE I'm doing shit?
And when I pointed this out to her, she deadass said "okay?" and scoffed like there is no problem??? Is the dopamine supply really that fucking low? That we're doomscrolling at the same time as doing chores? I guess I should be glad she's even doing any chores to begin with, but are we really that glued to our phones that we can't put them away to do something else?
Idk man maybe it's just because I'm autistic and physically cannot multitask, but... idk man that shit was kinda concerning to see πππ
