GEOMETRY GIRLS

Geometry Girls v2.0.0 has been released. Play it now!

It is I, Koolgamer... THE late and great Koolgamer. It has been a while hasn't it? Now it is important to be aware of one major thing. My game has been out for an eternity, but the playerbase has betrayed its vision completely. Oh is it the woe of a developer to have his game be consistently desecrated by its own audience? The playerbase, yes you players here, are an affront to everything the game stands for. This game was meant to be a revolutionary, and incredible fangame. One that everyone, no matter how unskilled can get into. One which is to uproot the establishment of Girl's Night and its co-conspiritors. But now, you people have turned my game into nothing more than a clone of Girl's Night. A speed slop game that only tryhards play. It is telling that most players of Geometry Girls are either onetricks of Girl’s night, onetricks of FNATG, or not victors of any other hard maxmode. The game clearly attracts a certain crowd, and that fact has severely damaged the integrity of Geometry Girls.

I have, for a long time now, wanted the game to be finally fixed, and be made truly great. A game that does not reflect the Evils of the Maxmode Sweat Community, and instead be a quality game that is more approachable to a wide variety of players. And now... My plans are complete.

Allow me to rant for a second.

Remember that last hotfix post with the crappy eldiablo mode bait and the warning Tivu put in it? Well, when that was posted, I really did think that was it. I really wanted that to be it! For a while, I was completely satisfied!

But alas, the tryhards. Oh, the tryhards.

The tryhards have tryharded so tryhardedly, that the corpse of Koolgamer has risen from the dead! And while he's here, he fixed up some other things to better the experience of the non-tryhards. The trysofts? Anyway.

Here's this update summed up in one sentence: I made the game easier for casuals - the people that don't want to download Aim Trainer or ADOFAI to play their FNaF fangame - and I made it more annoying for the tryhards!

(Btw everything I just said above was intentionally facetious, read the bottom of the post if you want my genuine thoughts!)

Changelog for tryhards:

- Green’s timer has a randomized duration. Previously on 30 AI, it was a fixed length of 60. Now, the shortest length of this phase is 30, and the longest 210.

- Darkness’ arrival time now has a wider range of randomness. Previously on 30 AI, she arrived either at ~10, 10, or 10 seconds. Now, she arrives at any 0.25s interval from 5 to 70 seconds (without adding normal/semi-hyper buffs, you do the math).

- Orange’s time spent in each killtimer phase (the time she gets to get red, or blink red) is now randomized. Previously on 30 AI, she switched from phases every 2.5 seconds on hyper. Now, she moves at any 0.25s interval from 2 to 10 seconds.

- Watching Ghost Girl’s TVs now doesn’t stall her either.

- Purple is kind of fast too!

- Because the buffering for inputs was being abused, you now can’t buffer anything. Fuck you.

Changelog for everyone else:

- RNG my best friend.

- Orange and Ghost Girl (doors) now are dealt with differently! Previously, you right clicked to close the door and left clicked to flash. Now, you left-click once to flash, and double-left-click to use the door.

(I guess I'll pause here and explain the conclusion I came to regarding left/right click usage. I realized that even with some fundamental mechanic in place to force brain power more... how would that make the game better? It would just be another thing to simply ignore, which eventually gets old, and it would awkwardly break up the flow of always doing the same pattern. Imagine having to right click Orange every couple seconds become of some weird imposition... does that sound fun to you, or just annoying?

That's not in the spirit of GEOMETRY GIRLS, and it's also not in the spirit of GIRL WAR I and II, which it was based on. In GIRL WAR I, the right click is vital to snipe, but there's a lot of cases where it's never used, not needed, or even an extra challenge to play without. And I think that's the best dynamic for LMB to have.

To achieve that, I made the game completely playable with only your index finger, if the player would like to play that way. But the game is still easier to play with both fingers.)

- Yellow and Pink have been removed. AKA, the thing where she sits with her square on the camera staring at you. Because of the tryhard-related change, the "doing both Yellow and Pink at the same time" thing I was trying to remove now has been effected. So why not let camera-less strat for Them exist outside of the max modes? This ultimately just makes the game easier to play and understand for casuals, which is a win.

- Darkness’ minigame is also a bit different. To say the least it’s now a bit confusing to scare the tryhards off.

- Purple’s running ambience follows her in the cameras as well as at the door!

- Xizen’s mechanic has changed! Instead of walking to Pinky, she will now fly and Pinky is now a bit harder to catch too! This way tryhards won’t be able to last long on the max modes…

- Darkness's mistakes not counting as dying has been fixed!

- AI values now don’t save when returning to the menu! In fact, nothing saves now! Just play yours sessions and that’s it, am I right?

- Along click reworks, now they are less responsive to your clicks now!

- Power Mode now is mandatory, why was it a challenge? Ask Tivu about it, not me.

- F2 instructions have been added to the menu. No clue why they weren't there before.

- High scores in the menu from previous versions have been wiped due to the gameplay changes, but any achievements earned are preserved.

Here are my (hopefully) first thoughts on Geometry Girls:

From my experience playing this one leisurely, All 10 on Normal Mode is the hardest that this game gets while still being fun. That's what I recommend working your way up to through the various build-ups. If you enjoy that and want to keep pushing with Semi-hyper and hyper modes, playing with AIs past 11, then go for it! But once it starts to become annoying, that's when you should reconsider. At that point, the game shifts from "Geometry Girls!" to "Polygonal Women that want to kill you for no reason and have no sense of fun!"

At the end of the day, the game is not even immersive. Look, I'm not saying it has to be deep—just that if someone sees you playing and asks how you do it, you can answer with things that happen within the game, rather than things that happen in the real world.

For example:

“I'm blocking this character's path—she was trying to come in from this side, but since she's made of wood, she can't get through these candles I've placed here.”

Instead of “I move the mouse quickly, then press this key.” as Ghost Girl does.

And to the max mode players, just know that you did this to yourselves! "Why is this max mode that I'm using a useless right click on to beat so annoying and awful to play?"

Okay, being silly aside, I don't have anything against people who enjoy pushing this game to its limit. Camera-less strats being the way to do that for v1.4.5 is not your fault, it's mine! However, if you were doing that and NOT enjoying it, and if you were just doing it for MML or AML slop clout, then yes, this update WAS meant to annoy you, because you're playing these games for reasons I do not respect.

Anyways, that's all from me. Hopefully for good, but who knows at this point. Geometry Girls v4.0.0 CONFIRMED?! Thanks for reading!
