This week has seen a lot of revelations in regards to Vortrus, including a new wave based mode which will see combat through waves of enemies. However, one huge change which has been less talked about is me getting rid of the RockVR plugin - this plugin has been a part of the project for a while now, and allowed me to capture video from the Unity editor and post it online. That changes today.
RockVR is not able to be exported with the package type which I am planning - WebGL. WebGL will allow Vortrus to be played in your browser, a huge step for the game. However, RockVR simply is not compatible, so it is going to the chopping block. This also means higher quality gifs and videos in the future. This is one of the many RockVR gifs made for Vortrus; you can tell by the watermark in the lower left corner.
It is a very good change for Vortrus for me to move past RockVR and search for a different solution. Higher quality gifs and videos mean more people get reached, after all.
