This past week was more productive than I thought it would be. As always, there was some work that I wish I could have gotten finished, but I managed to surpass my goals for the week.
First on my list of goals for this week was to finish off the bear enemy’s programming. I was able to recycle some code from the buffalo enemy, so it went by much faster than I expected.
And I also completed the framework for the lizard’s programming. It’s not perfect yet, but it’s working and it only needs some tweaking to get it finished.
And the crab is also fully animated and almost completely programmed. Like I said in the last post, I wanted the crab to behave differently than a lot of the other enemies, so I gave it a unique attack. Instead of merely chasing the player, the crab will burrow into the ground and pop up at the player’s location.
These enemies are still not perfect, so I’m scared to show off too much right now. Eventually I’d like to record a gameplay video, but I need to do a lot more polishing work before then.
One more tiny note: I added ladders to the game as well, which should really be useful going forward.
On a future note: I won’t be doing much work these next couple of weeks due to Christmas, but I’ll still be posting here on the devlog.
Thank you for reading,
God bless
