I just spent the last couple of days working like crazy on this game, to the point where I’ve actually started having dreams about programming and Frasier. A complete, playable game is definitely going to be available by the due date for the contest. I’ve got some screen shots to upload as well, which I will do shortly after I finish typing this.
Considering the two-week time constraint, the game is naturally quite short. At the moment I’m looking at a total of 7 rooms, two of which are fully-interactive, two are cutscene locations, and the remainder are for menus, credits, staging areas, and stuff like that. The puzzles are pretty straightforward and maybe a little on the lame side, sorry; again, the time constraint doesn’t allow me to put anywhere near as much thought into puzzle design as I normally would.
However, I really like what I’ve got so far, and I feel like this idea has enough potential to be developed into a longer game. I would like to build more locations, bring in more characters from the show, continue the story past the ending, and probably extend the story I’ve got so that Frasier’s….main objective….is a little more challenging to complete. Right now I’m primarily focused on getting something complete that I can publish for the contest; once that’s over I’m going to go back and rework it and add to it. If you’re following this game, be sure to keep an eye on it even after the voting is over, as a longer, much more thorough, challenging, and polished version will probably be available later in the year.
Thanks to everyone who is following me so far.
