Hello everyone, and Happy Holidays!!
It's finally the end of the year, and we have been working pretty hard to try and get some work done on Ghosted. As you may (or may not) know, we are 3 high schoolers developing this, so it can get hard to manage time for working on the game along with schoolwork. Thankfully though, next week we have our Midterm Exams, and right after we have Winter break! So we will have 2-3 weeks dedicated to working on Ghosted and getting as much work as we can done before school begins again.
DEVELOPMENT
On the side of developing the game, things have been a bit slow. Easel, the main programmer of the game, has been dealing with some personal and school related issues that have caused further development of the games system to slow, but thankfully it seems that more planning has begun! They have made the decision to switch the game's engine from Gamemaker Studio to Unity! Hopefully this can help development speed up, but only time will tell...
TIMELINE
The future of Ghosted doesn't have a full roadplan yet, but here is what we want somewhat.
1. END OF QUARTER 1 (MARCH 2026) - Level building system decently developed and playable mock up of the game, as well as the battle system.
2. MID-YEAR 2026 (JUNE 2026) - Have a boss battle somewhat fleshed out, 80% developed area, and a begin work on a playable demo for playtesters.
3. BEGINNING OF SCHOOL (AUGUST 2026) - Have a playable short demo for playtesters, a full first area, and a working combat system with upgrades.
CLOSING
School is ending soon for the year and we will finally have time to work hard on Ghosted, and we are so excited to see what this game becomes. We hope you end up following us until release (whenever that may be), and we hope to deliver something amazing! Thank you for the support, and sorry for the wait. For now, we leave you with a bit of a teaser of the main character's sprite and for the first boss we have in the works for y'all...
Signed,
The Upperhand Studios Dev Team
