In order to make a game, I also have to playtest it. This would mean I would be playing my own game. Even if it's just to check and make sure anything in it works.
Unable to play my own games would make gamedev far less fun and far FAR more difficult, so essentially impossible.
However, Minecraft adventure maps can be pretty in-depth, to the point where they can practically become their own games. That could help fill that role.
Besides that, Minecraft is simply a very fun game to play that I've sunk countless hours into. I can play it by myself, or with friends. I can play survival or creative. I can download other maps people have made, play on servers, ect.
And again, there's all the countless mods that there are, with more being made all the time. And who's to say I can't learn to even create my own??
So without a doubt Minecraft (if I must choose, Java edition, and if I must choose further, perhaps forge) would be the perfect choice, at least for me, if I could only play one game ever.
I'm really glad I don't have to choose that tho lmao, as there's a lotta games that aren't Minecraft I wanna play
Also, screenshot is my own of a world I was making with some friends of a floating city in 1.12
Haven't worked on that in a lil while but I could do a tour of it sometime if yall were interested. Been doing a lot with some friends of mine using the Management Wanted fnaf mods as well.
