It is not time for a new release yet, but there’s cool news for our development version.
The last news article here was a while ago, and there’s still a lot work in progress for our next release. Time to mention some newer features, but this time, I promise to keep it short.
First of all, Unnamed has modeled a new claw weapon, which replaces our old punch attack, that was used only in race mode so far.
This one will probably serve as an alternate spawn weapon, and it will have its unique perks. For instance, you can use the secondary attack to pull yourself towards an enemy or to perform impulse grabs on ledges and walls, which is a new type of low cost parkour move.
The claws also serve as an exclusive weapon for a new game mutator. In gladiator games, your punches and kicks get a whole new level of knockback power, so you can push your opponents out of the arena. This is one of the new deathmatch-specific mutators, together with old school, where only frags count for your team score.
Furthermore, there are some interesting changes to the mechanics of capture the flag games. For example, players often used to drop their flag into an abyss in order to have it reset in their base. In the current development version, the flag will instead reset right where the carrier left solid ground.
Finally, I’d like to mention that the weapon zoom mechanics have bean revised. For example, it is now possible again to keep scoping with the rifle as you fire several shots.
There are also a lot of other engine tweaks and refinements on weapon balance, as well as improvements to the stats system and game menus. Stay tuned!
