Going 3D & Job Posts
While internally discussing the development of our game, SCP: New View, we've decided to experiment with 3D.
Now this is a new experience to us, as our development team haven't touched 3D before, specially cosidering we're moving from GameMaker to Unity.
If done correctly, it will allow for a better appearence of the game and the implementation of certain mechanics that can only work in a 3 dimension enviroment. However, we will take a longer time in development and we'll also require modellers and animators, which brings up to our next subject: Job Posts.
We're currently already in need of a programmer to replace our current overwhelmed lead developer, who has been programming the game completely alone in Unity. And much like our name, he has been rewriting and refactoring the code several times, from the ground zero, to provide a stable and good looking game.
In addition to a C# Programmer for Unity we're now in need of 3D Modeller and Animator. If you're interested, or know anyone that might be interested, make sure to contact us at our e-mail, GameJolt or Discord, provided at the end of this post.
Requirements
C# Programmer: While knowledge about the Unity engine isn't a straight up requirement, it'd help if you'd happen to already know the basics of the engine. Our lead developer, however, is willing to teach what he knows to any newcomers to the engine.
A basic knowledge of C# is required. Knowing your way around classes, methods, operators, variables, etc. Adaptation to a code standard will be done after joining the team.
3D Modellers: Knowledge in any 3D modelling software compatible with Unity Engine (.fbx / .obj). Our recommended software is Blender (.blend) which can be read without the need to export the file to other formats such as FBX. Knowledge about UV Wrapping / Texturing is also appreciated, as well as knowledge about human character modelling.
Animator: Knowledge about animating human characters. The working with Unity engine part can be taught after joining the team. Although our programmers should be able to import the animations just fine, if said animations are done correctly: seamless/looping animations, with the character staying in place and moving only the parts required for him to move. This means that Unity can blend different animations together to make them smooth, and smoothly transition between them (For example: Idle, Walk and Run animations). Unity is also able to handle different animation layers.
Thank you
