Development is continuing! A few things have been decided:
Characters will have their own car (if applicable). This means that characters can’t switch into others’ cars, which is a controversial decision, but it will ultimately allow me to implement more diverse styles of transportation in the game (and give the designers some more creative freedom).
Once I finish at least 5 tracks and the game is stable, I will release a playable demo of the game. ThickPig07 came up with this idea; it will be a useful tool that we can use to see how it runs on different machines (i.e. gaming PCs, laptops, netbooks/chromebooks) and find any bugs or glitches that occur.
The game will be released for Windows, Mac, and most likely HTML5. HanKart began as a desire to have an online multiplayer racing game that we could use at school, regardless of what hardware we were using. In order to have it run on low power Atom/Celeron chromebooks, I would love to have it on HTML5.
And that’s what I’ve decided. Here’s an updated character and map list:
Characters:
Phil Swift (cube)
Carl Azuz (long boy)
Thanos Car
Minecraft Steve
Sans Undertale
Guest 1278 (Roblox boy)
Lil Pump (box boy)
Kanye (Echo character of Lil Pump)
[others pending]
Maps:
Bye Nuckles
Shop
The Big Bulge
Pirates
T-Pose Tuesday
Unnamed Space Map

Let’s talk about music for a sec. Currently as a team, we have made 23 different songs collectively (only some are on this page, others are on the official HanKart soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/hankart-game/tracks). That’s a lot of music. While it is funny to listen to, I’m having trouble finding places for every track. This is partially because music is the most easy thing to make out of everything else needed for the game. Because there have been times where I was procrastinating as I didn’t want to work on the game, and made music instead, I will not make any more music, at least for a while, unless it is needed. Everyone else on the team is free to make more music though, so don’t think you need to think the soundtrack is done.
That’s all I have for today. Thanks for reading!
PS check out yokuMusic’s game, SniperNEXUS. It’s what inspired me to start making music and games: https://gamejolt.com/games/snipernexus/267649
