Asriel died at the age of seven. Later, with the help of Violett, who created him a new body in the form of a flower, and Chara, who was able to transfer his consciousness to this new body, he was reborn as a Flowey. Many of his memories have been erased, but not all of them. It has red stripes on the petals, which were left from interaction with the soul of determination.
