This is a long, and pretty boring post, so here’s a TL;DR:
It’s been a while since I’ve posted, but I haven’t abandoned the game. I won’t be able to work on the game due to college and a job, but I hope to be able to eventually hire some people to do some of the work for me.
According to the date on my last devlog post, it has been about 2 months since I’ve shared anything here. I apologize for the lack of communication. During these past 2 months of silence I’ve had a lot of trouble keeping my focus on the project and maintaining my enthusiasm. With summer coming to a close I’ve had to face the realization that I need to return to college to finish my degree (Computer Science). And some uncertainties about a much needed scholarship opportunity have put some emotional stress on me that I wasn’t expecting to bear. Adding to my stress was the realization that much more work needed to be done on the game than I had anticipated, and the fact that I had run out of funds to hire anyone to help with the art or audio.
I didn’t write this post to simply complain about my life and make excuses for why I’m not working as hard as I should. This post is about the future of Lone Phoenix.
Like I mentioned, I am returning to college which, unfortunately, will take up much of my time. There is some good news, however. In the uncertainty of my scholarship I decided to apply for a part-time job to cover the expenses of tuition. After I decided to apply for a job I received a tremendous blessing: there’s a good chance that I may have my tuition completely payed for.
So here’s the plan for the rest of the year:
Go to college while working a part-time job. If I do end up getting my tuition payed for, I can use the money from the part-time job to eventually hire freelancers to take some of my workload. I’ll make some time to work on the game myself, but being able to hire someone to do the art, sound, and writing will be a huge burden off my shoulders.
I’d like to be able to go back to some sort of scheduled posting here on the devlog, but I don’t want to commit to anything before I know exactly what my schedule will look like. I hope it won’t take more that 2 months for my next post.
Thank you very much for reading,
And thank you for your patience,
God Bless.
