Heavy Wip.... nightmare nights plans in article below


I'm going to start off with Nightmare Nights, because. well thats the first rjac game available. i was debating doing 1997, but that game's far too unfinished for me to get anything significant out of it.

Firstly, allow for me to both temper and stoke your expectations, as my direction for this game will likely mark the direction for the other games in this collection.

Now, these remakes will be no easy task; Normally, what I work with has plenty of easy-to-edit things. However, most of what these games consist of are rendered in environment; Not particularly easy to edit at all, and I don't imagine walkin' up to jac's door and asking for the assets will do any good.

However! It's not *all* bad. There's enough wiggle room to add new mechanics and junk, so that is exactly what I intend to do. I just wanna at least make that little snag clear earlier so later decisions can make more sense.

With all that in mind, let's go over some plans I have.

-new mechanics for the gameplay, of course. I wanna keep it faithfully to the original to a certain degree, but I also want the pre-existing mechanics to be expanded on and modernized rather than cut out and replaced. Don't worry, I got ideas for the mechanic-switching thing...

-Restoring stuff from the demo. Post-night minigames, phantom wilfred, all that fun stuff.

-Probably not phone call tutorials, sorry.... I tried thinking it through and it didn't quite work. However, I'll be stylizing the tutorial screen to make it seem more like a notebook. If i'm gonna make you read, might as well make it fun to read, haha.

-Thing is about NN is that unlike Rjac's other games, it's 4:3 rather than 16:9. Instead of doing the madman's method of just stretching the game out, I decided to make it so that the game has these fun little borders instead. they're currently placeholders, but i intend to have custom art made for them, and to have their art change depending on what's happening in-game.

-Maybe more than three nights? A part of me does think the original game is paced pretty well given its short timeframe, but with all I plan to add, that might not fly. We'll see, I suppose.

-the Minis are mentally sick in the head and will have their minigame probably implemented into the main night somehow. I do wanna maybe just have it be a post night thing, but the crazy person in me wants to see if I can put it into the main gameplay...

And much more, I'm sure. I sincerely hope I'm able to do this and the other games justice. As mentioned in the description of this game, Rjac and his games mean quite a lot to me, so I would want for nothing more than to make.. good
