Hello New Year! + THE FINAL PUSH!


Happy New Year, Fallers! Sweet fancy molasses, can you believe it’s 2018?!

I apologize for not posting an update during December; it was an extremely busy month for me to the point where I also decided I needed a little bit of a vacation, promising I’d get back to work in January after the holidays. Especially because by then, the pixel artist who’s been working on the very last of the game’s assets would be finished with them…. and I’m incredibly thrilled to report that she is! (… Mostly! They’re at least 95% complete at the time of this post, with just a couple of small things still missing, which she’s said she’ll be done with in the next couple of days. So it’s safe to more or less consider them finished!)

With all of the game’s assets completed, I’m unbelievably ecstatic to announce PQ2D is now in its last phase of development - THE FINAL PUSH! What this means is that without relying on anyone else, I can… well, finish the rest of the game! If you remember from my previous posts/updates and discussions about what’s taking the full version so long/what was slowing down its development time, it was almost entirely the fact there were certain materials I needed that I couldn’t create myself, primarily pixel art graphics on the level of quality matching the original PinesQuest. Now that this is now longer an issue, development is going to speed up immensely, and I can honestly see the complete game being done and entering its QA/beta testing period (a couple weeks before being released to the public) in somewhere around the next 3-4 months.

April might be a good goal to set for myself, but don’t take this as “April 2018 is the new release date estimate,” because anything could happen. This is just when I’d personally like to see the game finished, therefore I’m going to try to do my best to work towards that. It’s something to strive for rather than a real estimate (since we already know off my previous ones have been….)

Nonetheless, I hope you guys are as excited as I am, and I’ll now be making updates on my progress as often as possible! I can already tell 2018 is going be a great year…. because it’s THE YEAR OF PINESQUEST 2D!

Heya there! I really wanted to show you all a little gameplay preview of the first boss fight i'm currently working on i hope you like it ^^

In the quest for accessibility, I'm adding Resurrection Shrines for players on the 'novice' end of the platforming spectrum.

In order to unlock the power of a Shrine, you must collect 3 'Souls' from your dead corpses! (the floating blue orbs)

Back in my art school days I used to ride the 710 COPSA line from Parque Del Plata to Montevideo almost everyday. This is the Marcopolo Viaggio G4 Mercedes Benz model from the late 80s, one of the older bus models that was running on the line.
