Situations for teams that haven’t clinched a spot yet:

Alabama: Clemson must lose to Southern Methodist to have a chance to get in. Their fate is in the hands of the ACC Championship game and the College Football Playoff Committee.

South Carolina: Their fate is in the hands of the College Football Playoff Committee.

Arizona State: Must defeat Iowa State in the Big 12 Championship game.

Tulane: Must beat Army in the American Athletic Championship game to have any shot, but their chances with a win will still be 11% of making the CFP.

Iowa State: Must defeat Arizona State in the Big 12 Championship game.
