JOLLY 4

Hey everyone, programmer for Jolly 4 here.

For those of you wondering why there's no Unity build up, this is why.

Also, as Ivan said in the last post, I will be releasing a YouTube video on the making of the Unity version of Jolly 4.

More info below

First off, I want to quickly introduce myself because not everyone knows who I am or what I did for the game. I'm Hunter, and I was the lead programmer for Jolly 4's Unity version for most of last year, though I was not the only programmer; there were about 6 more for the Unity version, if I remember correctly. For those of you who don't know what Unity is, Unity is a 3D game engine, similar to Unreal Engine. I also assisted with 3D art, environment design, lighting, animation, sound design, music composition, character art and more.

I joined the team back in January of 2024 when the previous co-director brought me on board to help bring the game back to a 3D engine to best capture the game's original image. Between January and March was slightly slow, but April to August was much faster regarding the programming. I worked on the game for nearly 2000 hours before finally leaving the team in December due to how the previous co-director was handling the team; Ivan brought up some of this in his previous post, I don't feel the need to expand upon it any further in this post.

As Ivan said, the events that followed resulted in the game being called off. The rest of the team, Ivan and I are all very upset about this. However, I want to try my very best to make sure that the entire team gets the credit and payment they all deserve, and that the art they've made gets the recognition it deserves. I will be attempting to accomplish this by documenting the game's development in a lengthy YouTube video going over the making of the game in Unity, developer commentary sections with each of the developers (and possibly Ivan himself), and more.

In the last block of text, I mentioned that I want to pay the team. Initially, pay wasn't promised for any of the team members. But as development expanded, people on the team started to be told that they could receive pay, whether it be directly by the co-director or through the VIP subscription of the old community Discord server for the game. Now from what I've heard currently, a few people on the team have been paid some. The amount that I heard they were paid, in my opinion, is no where near what they deserve. And for a fangame project, this is completely understandable; I wouldn't imagine a passion project to have a large budget in any case. However, I still believe that everyone on the team deserves to be paid for their efforts.

The video on the game's development will have ads, and this results in revenue on my end. I plan on giving nearly all of the revenue from the video to the rest of the team. I am hoping that in the end, the money that the video makes is enough to pay everyone adequately.

Thank you all for your support for JOLLY 4, I'm excited to release the video on the game so you all can see what the game would have been.

-Hunter Allen

Distrust - HUMERUS (with dirty shade) Papyrus isn`t small. It's possible that I didn't draw him well, but he crouched down and bent towards us. I'm still bad at moments like this
