This is the New Famicom. It was released in 1993 while the Super Famicom was out. The reason why it was made is because some people in the 90s couldn't afford a Super Famicom, and the original Famicom didn't have AV output, making it even less accessible. So Nintendo released this to help. Because of its easy peasy setup, this console is sought after by collectors. I managed to get mine and it was actually really cheap. Too bad all the included games were クソゲー...

Update on that copy of Pokémon Silver with the dead save battery: it works now (*≧∀≦*) I'm so used to Gold version and its graphics so I can't wait to see all the different sprites!
