Hey it's ddemkoo! #aboutMe

Hey, it's ddemkoo!

This is a bit of an introduction post to my profile and online persona, my skills, what I'm working on, what I like to do, the stuff I like. I will update this post with time, and will be pinned to the top of my profile.

I'd like to work on a portfolio site some time in the future, where I will take this post and add some of my work for people to check out

Who am I?

IRL: I'm a French/Hungarian dude who loves creating things. I speak fluent Hungarian, French, learnt English, and know a bit of Spanish and German. I've been studying computer science for the 4th year in Switzerland.

Online: I yield the power of the small domesticated carnivorous mammal, with soft fur, a short snouth, and retractable claws, aka Cats. Also it may probably look like it but I'm not a furry, nor am I associating myself much with that community. That orange/red guy on my pfp is Katto, and he has been sticking around for quite a while now!

What can I make?

Anything creativity related, all of which was learnt as hobbies and projects I started working on, and which I got better at over the years.

For me, this journey is still a big path for bettering these skills or even learning new things. Here are a some of them:

  • Music composition / Since the early days I've been hooked to music, I started learning the piano and music theory, but eventually realized I could move onto music making software on a computer.

I had the opportunity to experiment since 2012 on basic apps and then moved to more sophisticated software in 2015. Since then, I've learnt proper music mixing through practicing. I have been making the music myself for projects involving original soundtracks on a professional level, each of them with increasingly immersive sound design.

I have a soft spot electronic styles, as well as modern EDM/Trance, industrial, DnB, rock, but equally chillout- and downtempo music genres.

I'm creating original soundtracks on a big scale for videos, games, websites, or simply for personal albums.

    Apps: GarageBand (initially), Logic Pro,

Gears: Epiphone LesPaul, Rickenbacker 365c64, Nord Lead 3

  • Sound design / Often disregarded as something basic, a proper sound design is key to any project. I've been interested in sound design recently more and more.

Thanks to proper access to quality sounds and mixing skills (from making music), I manage to find/create, warp and overlay the perfect sounds so as to make immersive soundscapes.

I'm making sound design mostly for game projects. And for each released test build, the quality of the sounds always get mentioned.

    Apps: Logic Pro

  • 3D modelling / I initially learnt 3D solely to be able to work on Roxy's, and unless on rare occasions, it is still the only one project that require the use of such 3D software.

Over the 5 years I've learnt a lot about design and arts in general, which can be seen through the content I'm making, and which very much helped me to get better in this domain (even if I haven't been sharing much of it).

Today I am able to model pretty much anything with ease and proper time.

I do props modelling, character modelling and scenery modelling.

Apps: Blender, Substance Painter (started very recently)

  • Game development / I started getting into more serious game development with Roxy's in 2017, before which I was fiddling around with Scratch Edu.

I've been learning Clickteam Fusion, based on visual coding. It is the software I currently feel the most comfortable with, in which I am able to produce robust, deep and very professional code.

I love to push the limits of Clickteam and come up with twisted stuff, and have reached exceptionally advanced knowledge to bring the wildest content I have in mind to life.

Lately I've started Unity for school projects, which is an engine I may consider putting effort into sometime.

I have knowledge about game theory, game development process, and I had the opportunity to work with teams at school.

    Apps: Clickteam Fusion Dev 2.5+

  • Graphics design / Creating 2D computer generated graphics, such as UI, icons, but also imagery manipulation.

For user interfaces and icons, I'm using vector based software. I use the design knowledge that I've acquired over the years —by always keeping an eye open on small design details in everyday content, such as in movies, websites, games— to create visually pleasing, high-end and unique designs.

I occasionally do photo editing, most often for promo content, teasers.

    Apps: Logoist (2,3,4), Photoshop

  • Video & motion graphics / Something I've always been passionate about since I was little. Started with a simple Sony camera and iMovie, now using industry standard apps.

I create dynamic trailers, promotional material, in-game video content, mostly requiring to combine other domains (music, 3D content) and needing lost of planning, which I manage to do with ease.

Apps: iMovie, Motion, After Effects, Premiere Pro (these last two I am still learning but can confidently use)

  • Coding / Mostly due to school, I've tackled a huge variety of coding, some of which I know better than others.

A big portion of hobby coding is dedicated on coding website from start to end, both front- and back-end. By far my favorite thing to code, as it involves graphics (Html, Css) and "real" code (PHP, JS, databases). I'm only familiar with the Apache environment, but by far it allows me to turn any website project idea into a reality.

I've coded dozens of websites, often focused on user systems, games, as well as some "community" driven sites, which could resemble social media the most.

Languages: Java, Javascript, Kotlin, HLSL, VHDL, Assembly, C, C#, PHP, SQL, HTML and CSS (lol), Python, Scala

  • Art / I'm far from being a good artist, but it's good enough to me so that I can get basic things I need done.

It's really something I want to spend more time with. Though even if I don't share anything on this account, during the past year I've drawn some, and to my surprise made progress really fast.

I still feel very restricted when grabbing a pencil. And if there's something I want to get better at, it's definitely this.

    Apps: Medibang (previously), Procreate

Workflow

When I work on something, you know there's going to be effort put into it. If it is a quick task, or a lengthy piece of work, you will know that it was made with possibly the most care. It often takes more time, but you know every inch of the project is going to be thought out. I hate to rush work.

I'm not sure why, I'm just grateful it is the case, but I learn things really quickly. Or at least that's what I've been told. With only a dozen of drawings I've noticeably improved my art skills. Same goes to 3D. That's probably why I'm always open to new things to try out in the future.

When motivated, I will blaze through work with dedication, and if working in a team, will make sure that the general flow is going forward.

Tough, workflow has been substantially slowed down since I started university 4 years ago. While it's not near as much as I could before I started, I still find s couple of hours to spend on personal projects during weekends. At least this way holidays are a lot more rewarding!

Have you ever made Fan-Art of Pyro-Illusion before?

Because I'm dedicating an entire gallery on the upcoming official website! A spot to show off your work, skilz, and support!

And I'm inviting you to submit what you've made!

Who would have thought this "Be be be be be be be be be be be be be be be be be be be be be..."

...is actually:

"I don't wanna be be be be be be be be be be be be be be be be be be be be be be..."

(Basto - Gregory's Theme) @RobinTharsGames

Oh my god, my dream has come true... They are singing!

I didn't finish this one but if I did the caption would be:

"Halloween is overrated, enjoy fancy fall seasonal colors instead"

I've changed the name of one of the characters in Roxy's (guess which one). There's actually a theme in this boss song I've made today, it's pretty hidden though

Although if you recognize it, then you'll get closer to revealing the new name :)

#ost #music

I've made an export of the drums only, and I've inverted the phases to kick out the drum track entirely from the song...

This stuff GOES FUCKING HARD (0:16)!! I will add this to the ending

Hear me out, Truddy with sunglasses?

(ignore the flipped normals and stuff)

Hoh, you can now find me here if you've got an account! #bluesky
