It ended up way bigger and more complex than I expected initially. So let's get over them:
First, we got a new wallpaper system! During development, I looked at some of the old scrapped wallpapers I made for the game, and I thought "Hey these are pretty good, why not make an entire wallpaper system?" In the settings in the menu, you can change the desktop wallpaper, most of the wallpapers being courtesy of yours truly. Some examples of wallpapers are the OG gradient, the scrapped wallpapers, Level 385 from the Backrooms, Meat Home promo art, etc.
Secondly, we got the new critters!
BotNet: This one is a common robot-like critter, it blacklists you from the shop app, the shop website, and the forums in Doogle Dome. You can appeal your blacklist, but it'll only go through if all the BotNets are GONE.
Crashsite: This one is the only critter that isn't a real type of malware. Despite its name, Crashsite is pretty harmless, all it does is make fake blue screens to interrupt and scare you. But you can know if it's a fake blue screen by looking at the text, which sometimes is spelt wrong or uses other wording.
Pathway: This is the newest app critter. You can buy Pathway at the shop for an initial price of 50 money. Pathway lets you move any critters anywhere you want. Just click who you want to move, and then WHERE you want to move them. This is pretty useful if say, a Corruptor virus is near an important app.
Dropper: This is one of the new common critters. This dude is a big nuisance, he constantly spawns random viruses. Droppers cannot spawn more Droppers.
ILOVEYOU.txt: This one is a nod to the real-world ILOVEYOU worm virus. It's one of the rarest critters in the game. If you happen to click an e-mail saying "I love you <3", there's a small chance this dude will spawn. What ILOVEYOU will do is replace random critters around the desktop with more ILOVEYOUs instantly after spawning.
CIH / Chernobyl: This one is also a nod to the real-world CIH/Chernobyl virus. When Chernobyl spawns, it'll disguise itself as a random critter (you can tell it's Chernobyl cause the size is slightly off), excluding Antivirus and File Explorer. A shaking pop-up will appear telling you to find it, alongside a 1 minute timer, when the timer runs out, you get blue screened. If you do find out who is CIH, click 'em, the timer and pop-up will go away and CIH will reveal its real form. It'll then despawn shortly after.
Backdoor: This is a slightly rare critter. Some of you might be familiar with him, he was in Critterfest after all. Alongside BotNet, he was originally a scrapped critter, he would've basically been a less exciting version of CIH. Moving on its actual features, Backdoor can get access to the desktop, he gets abilities like opening random apps, corrupting files, deleting files, recovering files, bringing integrity up and down, giving and wasting your money, etc.
We also have a new page on the Lighthouse forums. Some of you might a guide post in the forums that wasn't actually a guide, that's cause I didn't finish it in time. But it's here now! It goes into as much detail as you need into every malware critter. Just click the blue "Read more..." in the post.
Lastly, we have a couple of other fixes:
Fixed the Pixel Effect Settings: In the original build, the pixel effect settings didn't work well, while you could toggle and untoggle the pixel effect, the UI for it was broken, it wasn't signaled if it was enabled or disabled, you just had to hope you toggled it right. But that's fixed now!
Turn Off PC Button: In the Jam build, the turn off PC button was just a neat detail in the task bar, but now it takes you back to the menu when clicked.
Collision fixes: Some collisions were kinda buggy and wrong in the original build, but that's fixed now!
That should be all for today. Tomorrow there'll hopefully be a slew of smaller updates and patches for games like Sign St., LTVSTW 1, Printable Critters, It's Not A Bug, It's A Feature, etc.
