To start things off before, I was terrified of FNaF and horror games in general. They different from any genre I knew and I refused to go near them or dare play them.
However, everything changed when FNaF World released.
I was browsing YouTube, and I don't exactly remember how I came across it the video, but it was the 9th part of a FNaF World let's play. I was familiar with the channel, so I decided to give it a click and found the game It was that scary bear game... but cutesy, how strange? but it was the right kind of strange, and I found myself quitefascinated by it.
Soon after finishing watching the video, it was time for bed. I remember going on YouTube the following morning, and I searched up the channel and found that part 10 had been uploaded, it also happened to be the final part of the let's play. I then got to see the game's Normal Mode Ending, and it really didn't feel anything besides wanting to know more. And the rest was... my, history.
In case you haven't played the FNaF World yet, I recommend you do. While it is different from every other game in the franchise, I think its an very enjoyable ride. It has a simple yet fun battle system and self-referential jokes scattered throughout. If you're a hardcore FNaFer, I think it'll tickle your fancies.
I didn't get to play FNaF World until over a year after it released, though when I did, I really did quite enjoy my experience with it.
Anyway, that's basically how my journey began. And, while I'm not as much as into the series as I was when I first, I still hold a deep appreciation for it and Scott Cawthon. Its kind of what inspired me to get in to game development, starting with a fan-game that's been cooking up over the course of nearly 6 years.
I'm not saying its been in active development over the course of 6 years, rather its been conceptualizing over the course of 6 years, which is a extremely long time especially for a fan-game.
I guess that ends this little retrospective. I apologize if this wasn't as well-written as it could have been, I just wanted to drop some details about how I got into FNaF in the first place. I could say a lot more but I don't want this to get for too long.
Goodnight.
(Thank you, Scott, for creating a game that forever changed my life and many others.)
And perhaps... maybe the sun will finally rise.
