Hungry Cells 0.4.5 - Devlog #2


Hello! I’ve had a lot of issues trying to upload version 0.4.5 today but it’s finally here. Not much has been added in the update, but that doesn’t mean that changes haven’t been made. A nice effect when hovering over menu buttons with your mouse has been added to spice up the menu’s a bit.

I had not noticed this previously but i accidentally set the size of the cell that gives the player 5 points and the cell that gives the player 10 points to the same value, this has been fixed.

Sounds aren’t completed yet and as a matter of fact i haven’t even started working on them. I had planned on working on audio today but today has been a very annoying day to live through as i have been sitting in Unity looking at this game with a mental block stopping me from going through with any bigger ideas i’ve had. I experimented with a powerup that made the player immune to shrinking for a short time but it quickly proved to be quite overpowered so i scrapped it, i might come back to the idea some time in the near future but for now it’s not really high up on my to-do list.

The secret menu has been added into the game but it serves no purpose right now as it’s purpose isn’t even fully established in my mind yet. I’m leaning towards having “secret” game modes which will be variations of the base game mode in there as rewards for completing milestones such as predetermined scores and new high scores.
