The FNaF 2 movie ruined Michael Afton. One of my favorite characters. The guy who’s the emotional blueprint for Jake, an original character of mine in something I'm working on. And what do they do? They turn him into a cold, manipulative, evil asshole trying to continue his father's evil work. Everything that made him complicated, conflicted, and human in the games? Gone. Poof. Vaporized.
Michael in the games is someone trying to fix his father’s mess, someone carrying the weight of guilt and redemption. He’s morally grey, flawed, and relatable. He’s not perfect — and that’s the point.
But in the movie? He’s just… evil. Pure villain energy. No nuance. No redemption. No soul. Just a straight-up creepy bastard. (No hate to Freddy Carter.) That’s not Michael. That’s not the character I know. That’s not the inspiration I drew from to create Jake. The inspiration was a man the world broke down, but still kept trying to do what was right.
"Oh, it's just SO HARD adapting videogames!"
MARKIPLIER WAS ABLE TO ADAPT IRON LUNG IN A CAVE! WITH A BOX OF SCRAPS! Granted, it was $3M worth of scraps, but he made it back AND THEN SOME!
This isn’t just disappointment. This is betrayal. A character I LOVED, who inspired my own creations, turned into something unrecognizable. And it hurts.
Fix it. Or at least, stop pretending this is the Michael Afton we know and love.
