His Double Lariat is really useful, probably the most helpful of his toolkit, it does a good amount of damage when spammed with the Custom Combo install on
Zangief isn't at his best out here, the most notable problem with Zangief are his grabs. Compared to Alpha 3, Alpha 2 (and 1) had a different system for grabs that changes the way you can do them and how they work. To put it up simple:
• In Alpha 3, they're done by pressing a direction and 2 Punch/Kick buttons, they can be activated at anytime and if it misses, it whiffs (Whiff is the term used to describe attacks that miss, grabs usually have a whiff animation that leaves you unable to move and therefore punishable)
• In Alpha 1 and 2, they're done by pressing a direction and a punch/kick button. These don't whiff, but can only be activated by getting close to your opponent. Command grabs still have whiff animations
Alpha 3 lets the normal grabs have a short period of time to confirm it, Alpha 2 doesn't and this makes Zangief struggle more if he isn't really close to his opponent. yeah ignore the 2 consecutive perfects in the 1st screensho
