POPGOES is a FNAF game, about the Toy animatronics. It always has been. It's not about an AU where the Toys have a different design, or where they have been "updated" for a new location, etc. It's a game about a man's experience with THE Toy animatronics, in a timeline that includes THE Five Nights at Freddy's 2.
So, naturally, when I implement a Toy animatronic into the game, visually it will look like... a Toy animatronic. As accurately as possible. It's not going to be a new character design. It's not going to be a stylisation. It's not going to be "updated" to have more detail and seams and screws and faceplates and whatever else. It's a Toy animatronic. If it looked different, then it would no longer feel like a (non-canon) sequel to the original FNAF trilogy, or feel compatible with FNAC (which includes the Toys in its death screen for example).
This has to be the most bizarre "feedback" I've read of Evergreen so far. The Mangle looks too much like The Mangle? Guys, come on lol. The Toys don't even look like their original designs for the majority of the game; they transform into the Falses quite quickly, which ARE original designs.
Some people are concerned that the Toys, being old-fashioned Scott designs, will feel out of place in Evergreen which has adopted a more realistic style. I can assure you, they don't! It's fine.
99% of Evergreen is COMPLETELY original design work. We have a set of our own animatronics, and the Falses. We have lots of new environments, with hundreds of custom made props and textures. The fact that faithful recreations of the Toys appearing in the game (shortly before transforming into new abominations) has led to people asking for "more originality" is not just disappointing but it's plain annoying.
AAAARGH. Yap session over.
